A GOOD DAY FOR THE FAR SIDE OF VICTORIA'S SECRET

 Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

So Elsa was here. It rained all day. I don't have a comparison photo of Lake Junebug because I didn't want to go out in the rain, but the storm wasn't too bad.

It was a good day to enjoy my purchases from the Victoria's Secret semi-annual sale. Yes, it's true. I am a Victoria's Secret woman and have been for a long time, to the horror of the farm women I knew in Illinois. Much of what I did horrified those poor souls.

Let's begin with my slippers, which arrived in their very own matching bag. It's a good thing I read the care instructions accompanying the slippers: DO NOT IRON  DO NOT DRY CLEAN

I don't know if I would have sent the slippers to the dry cleaner, but I definitely would have ironed them. Now I know better.

The pink-and-white tie dyed item is the world's largest sports bra, which I'll use for making sport in bed.

The jammies are cotton in a day and age when too many jammies are made of polyester. I don't know Polly and I don't know Esther, and I don't want either one of them on my butt. Unlike the slippers, the jammies can be ironed. Like that's going to happen.

No slinky panties for me. I wear cotton briefs. My undies definitely have a crotch. The kind of rose-colored thing is a lounging bra––perfect for me because I lounge regularly and often.

Mostly, it was a good day to nap and laugh at old Far Side cartoons.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. I have never bought anything at Victoria's Secret except for perfume a few times long ago. I did hear that they will be changing--going to be more inclusive of all types and sizes of women, though. Changing their image some, I guess.

I have always loved FarSide cartoons!! These were great! :)

Glad the storm wasn't as bad as it could have been--hurray!

    1. I noticed when I placed my order that the briefs are now available in XXLarge. They're wise to include more women, but why did they exclude them for so long? After much pumping, Lake Junebug is now down to a puddle.

  2. Hopefully blogger will allow me to comment this time.
Enjoy your purchases - and happy lounging.
I do love FarSide cartoons. Perhaps my favourite has his usual dorky kid with his hand up saying 'May I be excused? My brain is full'. I so relate to that.

    1. After the problem with updating my blog was solved, then a problem with comments came up. I hope I've fixed it.

  3. I love Far Side. I wish Larson was still creating them, although I STILL haven’t seen every one... or at least I don’t remember. I have a 30-year-old niece who, when she was in her late teens, was not permitted by her fundamentalist, ultra rightwing father to purchase anything from Victoria’s Secret. Another relative asked, “Why? You don’t like her wearing good-quality underwear?”

    1. One of the Illinois women announced that when she walked past VS in the mall with her grandson, she put her hands over his eyes. For nightgowns and robes?

  4. I must say that you have given me my morning chuckle! Enjoy your new slinky accoutrements. May they lead you to the kind of success you are looking for!

    1. My cotton briefs attest to my lack of slinkiness.

  5. Who doesn’t love the Far Side.LOL I just love every cartoon he has done. My first introduction to Gary Larson was the boneless chicken ranch. I laughed so hard in the bookstore, the lady told me to be just or I would have to leave. This was the university bookstore.
I hope Elsa wasn’t too bad for you but t least you can enjoy your store buys. I’m with you about underwear...who wants to wear ass floss?

    1. Boneless chicken ranch is hilarious! I've always said if I wanted something up my butt I'd wear dental floss.

  6. Well if that man with the fine cakes keeps coming over...no need for Victoria Secret items is there?

    1. Except when he wants to remove my undies for me. Part of the fun is undressing each other.

  7. I'm with you about Polly and Esther on my ass. No thanks.

And I love the "Return To Weebles Wobble But The Don't Fall Down Island" cartoon.

Elsa is just now leaving our town and we're wet but good.

    xoxo

I would be in such a quandary if I bought slippers that could not be ironed or dry cleaned!

  10. Well, let me just say that is NOT the kind of apparel I picture when thinking about Victoria's Secret stores. I never even knew they had regular clothing. It's nice to get new things to lounge and sleep in. I think too often many of us focus on the exterior clothing and not enough on our own comfort.
Love the funnies, especially the song request, and is it weird that I feel sorry for Randy the mouse? So be it :)

    1. VS is associated more with slinky stuff, but I get all my comfy underthings from them, including flannel PJs for winter.

  15. Another cotton underwear woman. I brought my daughters up on cotton, but for some teenage years they switched to the slippery stuff, the better to hoist their skin tight jeans. They are back to their senses. I've folded their laundry.

I've never been one for slippers but now that I know I can get them with a matching bag, I'm in.

  19. I don't think Victoria Secret carries my size of anything... but my Teen Granddaughter wears hers as Outer Wear, as the Teens are prone to doing and look so stinkin' Cute in their Outerware Lingerie Corsets and stuff.

    1. If it had been okay to wear underwear as outerwear when I was young, I'm sure I would have strutted my stuff in a corset.
