CLASSIC CHRISTMAS MOVIES QUIZ

 Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

I was going to write this post immediately after Christmas and didn't have an opportunity to do so. But it's not too late to have a quiz about classic Christmas movies.

I watched a lot of Turner Classic Movies over the holidays. I'm still watching them now.  The movies I selected for the quiz don't necessarily revolve around Christmas, but they have something to do with the holiday.

I'll provide a quotation from a movie and give you four possible responses. Each correct response earns 10 points. If you can name the character who says these words, you get 10 more points. If you can name the actor who plays the character, you get another 10 points.

NO FAIR GOOGLING TO GET THE ANSWER. You have to take the quiz based on your knowledge of movies. Some of these should be pretty easy. Others? Maybe not.

Any references to A Christmas Carol have to do with the 1938 version. I'll return on Wednesday with the correct answers.

1"That's the way it crumbles . . . cookie-wise."

      A.  A Christmas Carol

      B.  National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

       B. The Apartment

       C. It's a Wonderful Life

       D. Miracle On 34th Street

       B. The Dark Knight Returns

       C. It's A Wonderful Life

4. "Yes! Yes I do! I like Christmas! I LOVE Christmas!"

        A, Scrooged

        B. Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol

        C.  Christmas In Connecticut

        D. A Christmas Carol

5. "Suppose you listen to me for a change? I said listen to me! I'm tired of being pushed around. Tired of being told what to do. Tired of writing your god-darned articles. Tired of dancing to everybody else's tune. Tired of being told whom to marry. In short, I'm tired!"

          A. The Bishop's Wife

          B. Christmas In Connecticut

          C. A Christmas Carol

          D. Meet John Doe

Thanks for visiting. The person with the most points gets bragging rights.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. Fun! I love classic movies. ☺ I'm sure of these: 1, 2 and 4 are all C. Guessing: 3A, 5D. I hope you are healing well, in all respects, Janie. ((HUGS))

  2. The first was answer C one of my favorite movies. It was Shirley MacLaine playing CC. Baxter I believe.

2 is also C It A Wonderful Life.

And 5 is another of my favorites. B Christmas in Connecticut. Barbara Stanywick said that playing Elizabeth Lane.

    3 and 4 I have no ideas.

That was fun. Hope you well dear.

  4. I haven't watched enough movies and can't remember names. All I know is 2 is C said by Zuzu at the end of the movie but I don't know the name of the actress. Pretty pathetic Christmas movie knowledge. ;)

  5. The only one I know is #2. My answer for #3, which I was sure I knew, isn't listed under #3, so i guess I don't know #3. I suppose I need to get caught up on my Christmas movies. I've only ever seen 4 of those included.

  6. 1-c (I love The Apartment)
    2-c
3-No idea but guessing B just because it seems so unlikely
    4-D
5- No idea again but guessing B. I saw it a long time ago and don't really remember that much about it, but it sounds like it might fit what little I do remember. I have never seen Meet John Doe so it could be that as well.

  7. I only knew one, and I ain't telling which one.;)
Clearly I'm failing Christmas movies; no surprise for Hanukkah person who didn't grow up with any of these movies.

  8. Oh dear, I only know one for certain! May I just ask you if you have ever seen Scrooge? It is a musical from the 70's with Albert Finney. It is a firm family favorite. My Dad even watched it on TV with us when it was first shown on TV, must have been late 70's. My Dad never watched a film EVER but he loved that one! Make sure you watch it next year!

    1. Natalie Wood was so good in Miracle On 34th Street. I know it was remade, but I've never watched the newer one.
