EDITING & IRMA

Dear Hearts and Gentle People,

I am busy editing as I prepare for the arrival of an unwanted guest at Lake Junebug Resort. Her name is Irma. You can learn more about her HERE, but don't worry too much about Florida. Although the governor has already declared a state of emergency, that link is to CNN, which means it is fake news. Sad! How easily the governor of Florida has been fooled by the lying media.

We have plenty of dog food. We'll be sure to stock up on water and cookies. Everything is better with cookies.

In place of TIP TUESDAY, please enjoy the chart below.

I'll see ya when I see ya.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

Thanks, fishducky!

    1. If we run out of people food, we can nibble kibble with the dogs.

  2. Fingers crossed that it spins out before landfall

  3. #3 drives me insane! I predict that in 50-100 years, the word "lose" will disappear completely, replaced by "loose," which will mean what both "lose" and "loose" do now.

#11 is so common, I predict that the dictionaries will soon say it's okay to make a word plural using an apostrophe and an S, like they now say you can use "literally" to mean "figuratively," and use "imply" and "infer" interchangeably.

Speaking of commas, I've often seen people write things like "I knew a girl named, Janie" instead of "I knew a girl named Janie." Never understood that. Am I missing something?

  4. That's a great chart. My biggest pet peeve is the apostrophe before every 'single 's.

Hey, stay safe, Janie. I'm worried about you.
    Love.

    1. That make's me crazy, but so does everything else. Thank's, but no need to worry. Irma will probably die down before she get's all the way to Northern Florida, and if we did happen to be in an evacuation zone, Favorite Young Man could carry all of u's to higher ground.

  5. I get so irritated when people use "I" instead of me as in "Janie gave her readers and I a headache from trying to read the fine print in her grammar tip poster. Hope Irma gives you a miss!

    1. I hate that, too. Can you use your fingers to make the poster bigger or does your computer not do that for you?

  6. I think in as few as five more years "I", the subject, will be gone, gone, gone. Hopefully, so will I, so my ears will no long backfire. One more "John and me" or "Me and John" will drive me over the edge. Where are the mothers of America who shame their child. "Would you say 'Me went to the movies.'?" Arrrrgggghhhh.
    Stay safe.

    1. Many of the mothers of America don't know grammar so they can't teach their children.

  8. Good luck. As a child I often gnawed on dog biscuits. Which I thought was fair - the dog scoffed my food too.
My antique eyes can't read the chart.

    1. I thought everyone would be able to use their fingers to slide the chart open so it would be bigger. I forgot that not all screens work that way.

  9. I'll be thinking about you and hoping this monster storm heads out to sea instead of battering us.

    1. It can't possibly batter us as badly as Trump does.

I LOL'd at your use of 's in a reply above (which for some reason I cannot reply to directly). Very funny :)

  15. Good luck, stay safe and dry. Please tell us you are OK if you can. I want Irma to stay at see !

CNN bugs me because they jump on the worst news reporting and stick to it.
They have a slant. Microphones in the faces of hurting people.
The reporter they had in Texas was a mess she could not report without saying disaster every other word.
The poor Lady was wet cold had her daughter with her, just got off the chopper and this idiot reporter sticks a microphone in her face asking stupid questions.I was scrolling through the channels when this caught my eye. Local news only and Evening News with CBS.

When my home burned down in one of the first big fires in California... my children were upset and worried about each other but my stupid x is out there talking to anyone who would listen. Jerk !
This kind of flood reporting brought back too many bad memories.

You and the gud dugs be safe.
    cheers, parsnip xx

  19. It's getting worse it looks like so I'm glad you have plenty of dog food:) I am probably guilty doing one of those things...I just can't read it well enough

  20. Thanks for the fake news link (from your friend who doesn't have a news or weather channel). Looks quite up in the air as to what the path will be. I hope she wears herself out much more quickly than expected.

Confession: I know most on that list, but still have a couple I am unsure about.

Stay safe and, hopefully, dry!! Glad you are stocked up! :)

  21. Janie, you are all in my thoughts and prayers! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you all.

  22. Love that chart, Janie! I'd have hung it in my third grade classroom because it included everything we went over ad nauseam! My personal bugaboo is using "loose" incorrectly.

btw, I think that was the British projected storm track I just saw going across Florida to the Atlantic. The American one still has it going up the west coast. It just shows that for all our science and weather research, we still can't adequately predict the path of something as complex as a hurricane well enough in advance to evacuate the correct people. Please be safe!!!
