THANK YOU

 Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

Thank you for the support you give me regularly, and especially now, regarding my son. Your comments are kind and they help me a lot.

If I could bake for each and every one of you, I would give you chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven and still warm, soft and gooey, and I'd pour a big glass of milk for you to enjoy with the cookies.

I am feeling rather sorry for myself. About an hour ago I learned that the job is probably not a real job. Yes, it exists and it pays, but it is not with the company itself, and therefore, is without the company benefits package. To be hired with the company, one must be "good enough" on the job. No promise exists about this happening with a certain time frame. It might be a few months and it might be never.

I guess I'll start looking again tomorrow. I haven't said I won't take the job, so if I don't find a real job with a real company, then I can still take this third-party job to make a few dollars.

I always try to visit your blog posts a second time to see if you've responded to comments because it's nice to have a conversation. I have just finished my second visit to a number of blogs only to find that my comments are not there. I know I wrote the comments. I know they were published (if you don't moderate comments). So I don't know where they went. Anyfranklin, if you think I'm not visiting your blog, then think again. I'm trying.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. You are going through a tough time and I would accept those cookies if I wasn’t being strict on my hypoglycaemic diet. I read your previous post and my heart does go out to you and in trying to find a job since I will be beating the pavement once I recuperate from my operation. I love these images and love the math one.

    1. You should not have to look for a job after all the years you put in. I am furious on your behalf.

  2. No need for thanks...we love you too. It's nice to have a small online community isn't it? I too try to comment back to comments, just so readers know I saw their comment , as a thank you of sorts... and like you said it get conversations going.

    1. We have a lovely circle of friends through blogging. A few times in the past I found I was following blogs by people who seemed nice but turned out to be gun-toting white nationalists. Then I had to extricate myself from what had once seemed a promising friendship.

    2. Okay, so now I'm dying to know what Insider intel you got from the gun-toting white nationalist blog peeps! *LOL and Winks* Janie, I've had to extricate myself from what had once seemed promising friendships in Real Life for the very same reasons after 2016 and beyond, the facades dropped and you often then had the ugly underbellies revealed of people you thought to be normal and moral... and yet...

  4. That’s the pits about the job and sad that it was misrepresented. Wishing you something even better!

  5. So much work today is contract work so that employers can avoid paying benefits. I hope everything works out well in the end, but it must be very discouraging.

    1. I was disappointed, but I'm over it. Ninety days of work before I'd be eligible for benefits with that job, and they weren't even the company's benefits.

  6. Disappointing news about the job. Better luck with the next one! In the meantime, yeah, make a few bucks off them if you can.

I read your comment over at "Moving With Mitchell" that your ex-husband became a Baha'i at the end of your marriage. The Baha'i faith attracted me at one time too, with its emphasis on peace, love and tolerance. Then I checked out its position on homosexuality. "Unnatural, evil, wrong!" So much for peace, love and tolerance, eh? Fuckers.

    1. X always had a homophobic streak and made stupid jokes about gay men.

  7. A lot of companies do this now--hire temps before they hire permenent help. But it is more suspicious before the holiday season. Good luck, my friend. :)

  9. These memes are funny.
I'm all in on the warm chocolate chip cookies and cold milk;)
I left a message at ECs and she found it in spam.
    Have a great weekend.

  10. Sometimes blogger comments seem to have a life of their own. I'm sorry about the non-job job, but hope something good will come your way soon.

  11. I just looked back at my last post. We both show up. Tell me if that changes.

  12. I love the math and the procrastinating/distracting memes. They are a little close to home for me, but if we can't laugh at ourselves we might as well give up :)

I'm sorry the job didn't live up to its description. That's discouraging. Hang in there, Janie.

  13. Oh, that sucks about the job. But it could lead to a job with the actual employer? Does it have any benefits at all? Maybe it's worth pursuing just to get in the door?

    1. It could lead to a job with the actual employer, but there's no guarantee that it will happen within a particular period of time. It has rather poor benefits for which I'd be eligible after 90 days, unless the company does hire me and then at some point I'd be eligible for their benefits. The job has a lot of "ifs" attached to it. It's worth pursuing if nothing better shows up and I have not turned it down.

  14. That sucks about the job, Janie. It's a good time for job seekers, though, so I'm sure you'll find a better one.

I know you've been visiting my blog, and I thank you for all your lovely comments, even if I haven't responded promptly. Oddly enough, they always end up in my spam folder, but I check regularly, so hopefully, none got lost. This might be the situation with your comments not being visible on other sites. I don't know why this happens, and I've even tried to get answers from the anti-spam program I use, but, so far, no solution.
