Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
You already know about our Monday if you read my previous post, and if you didn't read it, that's fine. Go back to sleep.
I have decided to return the new thermostat, although I'm no longer angry with it. It functioned as a dog guide would when the dog refuses to cross the street with the blind person because the dog knows the street involves complicated instructions and has wiring and is difficult to put up on the wall successfully. I was convinced of my infallibility after hooking up and repairing some stuff. I've decided, however, that my abilities do not extend to something that involves wiring. The new thermostat spurned my advances, thus keeping me safe. The air conditioning worked fine after a visit from Son Of Dean. If the heat continues to act up in the future, I'll request assistance.
Today was again sunny, but a little cool. I didn't accomplish much after staying up late the last two nights.
On Sunday I finished my taxes. Hallelujah. I didn't get much of a headache, and I'll get a bit of a refund.
I'd been saying that if Harry and Meghan wanted their privacy, then they shouldn't have agreed to an interview with Oprah. I watched anyway and understood why they agreed to talk. I grasp the desire to say, That's not true. I didn't do that. Quit lying about me.
Sometimes we have to defend ourselves, especially when family refuses to do so and might even choose to believe the lies no matter the evidence.
The sun and I drained Lake Junebug, but the mud remains. This afternoon Franklin rubbed his neck and one side in the muck. He smells nasty and will need a shower.
I'm sorry to tell you that Carol's great-granddaughter is still blind in one eye and has little sight in the other. Carol said the young lady's hands also shake badly. Damn COVID all to hell. Damn the former president who allowed it to run rampant.
I put power steering fluid in the car and it no longer moans and complains. That's a triumph.
I got the second dose of Shingrix on Friday, in spite of a pharmacy tech who couldn't seem to do anything right, which included his inability to cover his nose with his mask. After much blather and repetition from him, he finally figured out I have insurance. I confess I became annoyed after the 10th or 12th time he told me my insurance card would have a bin number and Rx on it and mine didn't have it. When he came out from behind the barrier to talk to me, I became disgusted and told him to cover his nose.
Carol called yesterday to tell me she heard on local news that next week the vaccine will become available to people older than 60. I have to wait four weeks after the Shingrix shot to have the COVID vaccine, but at least when those weeks have passed, I should be able to get my shot. Woo-hoo to that and woo-hoo to you.
Now it's time to warm up some supper. I have some bills to scan and paperwork to fill out related to the attack so now that my taxes are done, that's the next item on the agenda.
See you soon.
Infinities of love,
Janie Junebug
It's interesting seeing how the Harry/Meghan opinions fall. Somehow bullying gets more of a pass in England.
ReplyDeleteI read an article that said Black people in the UK understand what Meghan went through because they experience racism all the time. Of course, that's a problem here, too, but it seems the press in the U.S. treats her better.
DeleteYou've had a busy day! I'm sure Franklin thinks he smells just fine.
ReplyDeleteFranklin is always pleased with himself.
DeleteSmiling at Debra's comment above. I am sure that Franklin does think he smells just fine.
ReplyDeleteTake it as easy as you can. It sounds to my lazy self that you have had some very big days.
I had even bigger days for a couple of weeks while I worked in the yard and cleaned the house. I still have more to do, but everything is better than it was.
DeleteI keeping hope for Carol's granddaughter. I've heard tell of very slow recoveries.
ReplyDeleteSo, I won't call you for electrical work, but I'll consider you for car repairs.
I'm also sure Franklin thinks he smells just fine and he's going to think you're nuts when you give him a bath.
I try to not give too much thought to GB's royal family, but I do find it disturbing how cruel the press and others have been to Meghan from the start. I have no reason not to believe the couple and admire them for sharing their truth.
I would not consider me for car repairs. Franklin is so well behaved that he'll walk into the shower and stand still while I shampoo him.
DeleteI think its safer if I don't give my opinion about Harry and Meghan, but I don't believe she was treated unfairly here in the UK because of her colour.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm curious about what you think, Joey. If you write about it, I promise not to pick on you, but to read with respect.
DeleteGood plan to return the thermostat. Anything with wires and connections, that can cause sparks, fire and electrical jolts through my body I take a pass on. As for H&M, it amazes me, dumbfounds me no less, that the world is so obsessed with them. I wish that the media would stop covering them. Is the planet not heating up, are the oceans not rising, are animals not facing extinction at an alarming rate? Surely there is more important stuff to focus on. When they first exited the UK, silver spoons firmly lodged in their mouths it seemed, they moved to Vancouver Island in Canada. Thank goodness they decided to move to California. Now if only you would ignore them.........
ReplyDeleteAlthough I would have turned off the power before fooling with the thermostat, I imagined turning the power back on and seeing my world go up in flames. It would be fine with me if the press didn't cover H/M, but that's not going to happen so I respect their right to defend themselves.
DeleteHey! I wonder, are all the states different in regard to the Covid vaccine? I'm in Georgia and I hadn't heard that it would be open soon to those over 60. I am in that category! Georgia ranks dead last in terms of vaccine distribution. Figures! I couldn't help but think of Prince William, Prince Charles and the Queen watching that interview. Very sad. Hope all works out for everyone involved, in housing Harry and Meghan. Take care, my Florida friend! Do y'all still have lovebugs anymore? I just thought of that, will have to look it up!!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you wrote a correction! For a second I thought H/M were coming to stay with me and I needed to finish cleaning the guest room and do some baking. Yes, all the states are different, but more vaccine is available now and some places are better organized than they were at first. Our governor is a jerk; yours is an even bigger jerk. Now I'll have to look up lovebugs. The only one I know is Carol.
DeleteIncluding! Not inhousing!!#=÷÷=%/
ReplyDeleteSo funny.
DeleteI think the timing of the interview was not the best. The Queen is 94, her husband nearly 100 and in the hospital, who knows how ill. This may be because of Oprah and CBS setting the time to send it, but still. I think your decision to leave the wiring to experts is a good idea. I feel the same way. Mechanical stuff I will try to fix, but electrical I leave alone.
ReplyDeleteThe timing of the interview would probably never be good. The cynical side of me says the interview might be linked to H/M having a deal with Netflix. I felt good about hooking up the pump in the backyard, but that wasn't likely to lead to possible electrocution or fire.
DeleteBravo to you for getting your taxes done. I still haven't dealt with that ordeal!
ReplyDeleteI put it off until it becomes unbearable, which, fortunately, is never at the last minute.
DeleteTaxes, not something I have ever had to deal with although Tim does every July as required.
ReplyDeleteMy ex-husband always did our taxes. The first couple of times I did them, I had a hard time. It's gotten easier.
DeleteI would never try anything electrical. I get nervous just replacing the battery on my wall thermostat--LOL!
ReplyDeleteGlad the lake is at least down to mud. Whew! You were really floating there for a while!
I didn't watch the special (no regular TV) but have seen snippets. There are people in England who think she was acting and making the whole thing up. Good grief! The press over there has always been hard on her from what I understand--actress, from US, and half black--she had strikes against her from day one. They blame her for taking Harry away. But he has stood by his woman. Would they rather he dumped her and sent her back to the US? Probably. *sigh*
Glad you are getting through paperwork. Nice to not have taxes hanging over your head, at least.
Have a good rest of the week, Janie! :)
Whatever H/M did, I think the press in the UK would trash them. I saw an article before the interview that showed how Kate was treated compared to Meghan, and then Oprah showed some of the same. You wouldn't believe the crazy things they said about Meghan, while Kate was golden!
DeleteI've heard the vaccines are available in the elite areas of FL.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Carol's great grand.
Take special care.
Where I live, the vaccine has been available at places a lot of people can reach. Carol got both of her shots at a senior center. Farther south, the governor tried to set up vaccination sites in two very wealthy areas. When people complained, he acted like a brat and said, Then we just won't have it at all!
DeleteI am so sorry to read about Carols Great Grand Daughter. You always have to wonder what will happen to my family when they get any shot. I hope she will recover.
ReplyDeleteI have a few friends over the pond and boy has Megan got everyone fooled. Shame on Oprah for letting Megan say anything but never asking a rebuttal or a real question? Somehow sitting in a posh mansion and whining about money Harry is 34 and Megan is 42 Daddy stopped giving me money. They said they wanted privacy then stop putting out PR pieces every other day. Be Quiet and live your life. If Megan was suicidal what were her OB Doctor or Harry doing at this time ? Megan is always trying to be Diana. I have had suicidal family members and a best friend and that is just a slab in the face to them. They asked for help they got help. Megan has set back all the Health Initiative all the Royal Family were woking on. Being part of Royal Family is work a job not just fancy dresses and tiaras. @David M, Gascoigne said it best.
Oh Well we all have things more important than 2 woke brats.
Drain that Swamp in your Back Yard I am sure Penelope does not like muddy feet. Scotties like the wet and mud !
Maybe some new treatment will be found for the great-granddaughter. Not so long ago, we didn't have a vaccine. Penelope behaves strangely when Lake Junebug is full. Franklin heads to the driest ground he can find, while Penelope wades through the water. Now that it's muddy, both like the mud!
DeleteOur Gud Dugs are so funny but we love them !
DeleteLong ago my daughter painted a plaque that hangs next to my front door. It says (in Latin) the dogs must be loved.
DeleteBest thing about doing taxes isn't just the finishing of doing the taxes. It's that you had income over a certain amount necessitating doing your taxes in the first place. At least that's what I tell myself.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the vaccines and brighter days ahead~~~~~~
Although I pay quarterly taxes, every year I worry that somehow I'll owe more.
DeleteLet's hear(And I originally typed here. Sigh.) it for tax refunds!
ReplyDeleteHave a wondrous weekend.
As I age, I find myself know longer abel to spel.
DeleteI did all of our taxes (ours and the boys) a while back. The return is in the bank. Waiting on the stimulus money. Not that I'm using that to stimulate the economy, mind you, but it will be nice to take care of some things.
ReplyDeleteI sucked it up a few days ago and did the FAFSA for Youngest. *sigh* It had to be done by April if he even wants to entertain college in September. It's such a pain, but I'd rather do it than need it later. And there's NO WAY I was letting him attempt it. I'd be headed for an audit for sure. We shall see.
We'll see what he decides to do about school.
