Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
Wow! This Battle of the Bands was a close one. I'm not voting because it won't change the outcome.
The winners are
Simon & Garfunkel with 17 votes
while PigPen Theatre Co. finishes with a respectable 15 votes.
Thank you for voting, and I wish the rest of you in the U.S. a blessed Thanksgiving.
I'll ask Simon & Garfunkel to sing us out with one of my favorite songs.
Infinities of love,
Janie Junebug
Excellent Battle, JANIE! It's always so risky when one puts the original artist up against a cover, but you pulled it off. Good show!
ReplyDeleteI also love 'BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER'. It's gorgeous! I think of it as a Spiritual; I always imagine those words coming from Jesus Christ. And it works that way, because those are the sentiments He left us with.

'Loyal American Underground'
Well said, Mr. McCarthy! I think that song is very spiritual, too. Exactly what Jesus is to those of us who are Christians.
DeleteThat WAS close, wasn't it? I'm glad there are so many talented artists in the world of every stripe; we can all find something to please us. And if we can't, we're not trying hard enough :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying your BOTB posts, by the way.
I'm so glad, Jenny. I have fun with them.
DeleteSo glad they won!
ReplyDeleteAt first, PigPen was ahead. They were tied at the halfway point.
DeleteThis was a grand BOTB. I'm still more interested n the singing artists. Just watch Art's mouth and see some parent, some teacher, someone, taught him enunciation!
ReplyDeleteI learned enunciation from singing in the school choir.
DeletePaul's father was an English professor at NYCC. He must have taught Paul poetry!!
ReplyDeletePaul also majored in English.
DeleteWow, great turnout and what a Battle! Can't ask for much better than that.

Tossing It Out
I'm very happy with it.
DeleteI'm happy with this outcome.
ReplyDeleteSo am I.
DeleteIt would have been a shame if S&G lost.
ReplyDeleteNot at all surprised!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you too!
I didn't vote for them this time, but would never ount them out. S & G were the best.
ReplyDeleteCloser than I expected. Glad S&G can still pull it off. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery few bands in my mind that would be S&G. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat turnout, Janie! And a good result, even though I voted for Pigpen. Thanks for the introduction; they're excellent. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one, close call indeed. Warm greetings to you.
ReplyDeleteThis was definitely a close one. I'm happy with the results even though I voted for PigPen.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Thanks for posting this great song.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Jessica
Happy Thanksgiving Janie. Send me a note and let me know how the job thang worked out.
ReplyDeleteWishing a happy thanksgiving to you and your family!

ReplyDeleteOof, it was a squeaker. Did Garfunkel show up to accept his award?
