WEIRD AL SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

Because my current Battle of the Bands song is Smells Like Teen Spirit (Click HERE to Vote In Your Comment),

and

because a few of you mentioned that your favorite version of the song is Weird Al's

and

because I like Weird All, too,

I asked him to stop by to perform for you.

Here we are now, Al. Entertain us.

Infinities of love,

Janie

  1. That was pretty darn hilarious. I especially liked the little kid shining a bright spotlight in Weird Al's face.

Be well, Janie. Infinities of love back to you.

  2. So funny! I remember Dagan having me listen to Weird Al's version before I had ever heard (and I use that term loosely) the original song--LOL! I love Weird Al. :)

    1. I'll try to write a post later this week about the lyrics. I find them interesting.

  3. Generally speaking grung music is not one of my favorites, but I do like Nirvana's version of that song. It is soooo intense.

    1. I like it, too, though when I first saw the video it confused the heck out of me.

  4. Was that a Dick Van Patten cameo I saw at the 1:58 mark!?! I forgot how delightfully insane that video was/is.

  5. Al provides so many great parodies and this one is a prime example

    1. Oh, Linda Kay, you're missing out. He does all these funny parodies of popular songs. Google YouTube Weird Al.

  7. Thank you for having Weird Al entertain us. I am wondering if he has to use hair detangler after each performance. I believe he would end up with serious knots in his lovely mane if he didn't.

    1. When he's not playing the part of Kurt Cobain, he always has that long, curly hair. I don't know if it's natural curl, or he perms it. I'd like to have that curl, though I don't think I want to look exactly like Weird Al.

  8. Weird Al always takes me back to Spirit Lake, the summer I worked at a camp in the High Unitahs. Good times.

    1. Where would we be without Weird Al? Probably curled up on the floor in a fetal position.

I can understand the words better, love the cow, the headless guy and the drummers long hair ! I have very little hair left (bummer) so I always look at every ones hair.

    1. The real drummer for Nirvana still has that long hair that flies all over when he plays, or at least he did the last time I saw him on YouTube. Of course, Weird Al's words are different than those of the song. I'll try to post the lyrics on Friday. I find them rather interesting.

    1. Weird Al leaves no detail unturned. I'm not sure what that means, but you probably catch my drift. I don't know what that means, either.

  13. Den is a weird Al junkie and if he hears a song on the radio that Al did, he sings over the top of it. We fight sometimes.

    1. Punch him in the mouth. Problem solved. Or carry a knife that's easily accessible and stab him, but I don't want to read in the news that you were arrested and you blame it on me.

  14. Leave it to Weird Al to make a perfect send up of this song. I love the late great Dick Van Patten in these shots. I also love the hairy armpits(yuck) and the general nonsense of the burning guy, head and arms gone and the cow and shhep

    1. I love it, too. I don't think Weird Al has ever done a parody I didn't like.

Never saw (or heard) this before. I THANK GOD FOR THE GENIUS THAT IS WEIRD AL!

Only Al could take a retarded, sub-human, moronic, pre-kindergarten song like this and make it entertaining and worth my time to watch and listen to.

When I was a C-average student in junior high school, my creative writing ability was about 40 Light Years beyond Kurt Co-Bane's writing ability at the moment he mercifully saved us from any more of it.

I admit to being a maroon, but on my most sleep-deprived, hungoverest morning, I could still think 100 circles around Kurt Go-Bane on that one day he was conscious (if there was such a day).

Only in a land as fallen and satanically-influenced as America could a loser like Kurt be not only missed but revered like he was some talented artist. I could crap better art than Kurt ever even imagined, and so could 95% of my friends.

    1. "[I feel confident that you would not want me to post my honest opinion here about Kurt Co-Bane and this song. I abstain from the voting.]" You should have stuck with not posting your opinion. When you abstain, then you don't get to criticize. In fact, you don't need to criticize, period. Did you not see my badge of honor from my beloved friend Cherdo? I call Cherdo to sing to her. The next time I call, I'll sing Smells Like Teen Spirit.
