Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

It took a while, but Favorite Young Man finished painting some rooms in my house. They looked pretty bad. The final two to receive the FYM treatment were the master bath and the office.

Here's Favorite Young Man at work in the bathroom:

This is my favorite photo of him.

As you can see, the bathroom ceiling was white. I can't find a "before" photo of the walls, but I described the color as pale piss.

Here's the finished bathroom:

We started with a lighter color on the walls and decided
darker would be better.

I like the bold color choice FYM made for the ceiling:

The walls in the office were the worst in the house. I forgot to photograph them, but I wouldn't even describe the color as pale piss. They were a colorless color. One wall looked as if someone had thrown a drink on it. And no, I did not throw a drink on the wall so just wipe that idea out of your heads this minute.

Why? Because I'm the mom, and I say so.

Favorite Young Man selected the color for the office. I love it!

Faith was a Mother's Day gift from Middle Child.
MOM (I'm sorry it has a glare on it) was a
Mother's Day gift from blog child.
They didn't plan it, but don't the two pieces look
good together?

I gave this WVU football thingy to Willy Dunne Wooters for Christmas because West Virginia is his team:

Thank God he doesn't watch NFL games, too.

Here's my favorite artwork in the room. It's on the wall to the right of the chair where I sit when I'm working. I can look up to see it any time I like. It was painted by my beloved Jenny Matlock, who blogs at Jenny Matlock. I wonder how she came up with that title for her blog. Anypainting, it's the first stanza of a poem I wrote for Willy Dunne Wooters. Jenny painted it on two boards so the two are individuals, but they're together.

They say:

Two lovers in love
laughed at the sea,
laughed as the waves
splashed the shore.
The water was cold
and it tickled their toes
and they laughed
and sang la la la laa.

Thank you, Jenny. I love you dearly.

That's all the painting for now. Favorite Young Man does a great job. Thank you, FYM.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. Hi, dear Janie! A fresh coat of paint on the walls automatically gives your spirits a lift and those earth tones you selected are pleasing to the eye. What surprises me is that, quite by accident, all of the items gifted to you by others are color coordinated with the walls. They look fabulous. I know you will enjoy your new color scheme!

  2. Is FYM smiling? It's hard to tell. Read the whole poem--LOVED it!!

  3. Really nice warm colours. I like the artwork too! esp 'Faith'

  4. Those colors are awesome! And you have cool things on your walls. Nice. I have white walls and a duck hunting monthly calendar on mine (thanks Boyfriend).

  5. He should put the butt shot on his business card. He would be painting houses all over the south:) I love the color of the office.

  6. FYM is a fab painter, and they are hard to come by.

  7. Clearly, FYM is everything he's cracked up to be, so to speak! He did a beautiful job painting your rooms.

  8. Does FYM know about that first picture??

  9. Like the "after" painting photos, even if I can't compare them to the "before". Regardless, pale piss would be a poor colour to begin with I guess. So I'll let my imagination fill in the before photos.
Completed job looks nice. When you signing up for Trading Spaces? LOL

  10. That yellow ocher color is one of my favorites.

  11. I love all the color!! Nice! And what sweet gifts, too! Jenny is a treasure. Enjoy the house facelift! :)

  12. Your picture of FYM looks like a true plumber picture! I do like the color of your office as it makes all your special pictures stand out.

  13. Isn't it nice to refresh a room? I love paint and colour so your bathroom looks great with the bold colours. You son has a little "plumber" going on:) Love the poem and what your children gave you-looks perfect on the walls

  14. Hi FYM! You do great work and I love it! Keep it up! I also loved the poem as well. :)

  15. I wish I had a FYM to paint my house, even the old man of the house.aka.....Tim says it is too much work to now paint the house.

  16. Hi human, Janie,

Nothing like a bit of brown to cover the walls. I added a bit of brown to the carpets, but don't tell my human.

That's nice pawetry and I'll check it out further.

    Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses,

    Penny xx

  17. I love it when you first get done with a painting or remodeling project. It's awesome.

  18. "pale piss" is not a color that I had heard of before but I am sure to avoid it.
I love the after pictures! I hate living with the mess of a redo but try to tell myself that it will be great while I'm working on it. I have to do something to keep my spirit up or I might go on a rampage.

  19. Oh. How fun!

This post made me laugh and then smile and then tear up! I'm hoping to get back to painting some day. I have stuff in my head I'd like to try.

I hope this doesn't ruin our friendship

I'm super glad you're not working for a paint naming company.

    Hugs and thanks!

    Many blessings,

    1. Jenny, I never thought of a job naming paints. I think I'd be great at it--honest and amusing at the same time.
