SOMEONE TURNED HER BACK ON OUR NEW YEAR'S EVE MOVIE

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

Princess and I watched Wicked: For Good on New Year's Eve. Princess is quite particular about her television choices.

She was interested in the movie at first, resting and watching from a spot on the floor close to where I was sitting.

I'm sorry the photos aren't all that good. We didn't have a lot
of light. Princess is camera shy, so I have to grab a shot
of her with my phone when I get the chance.

I never know why Princess likes a movie or TV series. She refuses to tell me, but she clearly found For Good appealing –– for a while.

She usually sits on my lap to watch TV, but this time she moved closer to the TV.

Yes, that's her head sticking out of her blue
hoodie, right in from of the TV.

But then the magic ended with one sentence. Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) said, Animals can't be trusted.

I finished watching the movie while Princess very pointedly ignored it. I did hear her whisper, That's a mighty big load of boolshit somebody had to shovel.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

    1. It only took one negative comment for her to be fed up.

    1. I'll tell her you said so. I think animals watching TV are interesting, too. Long ago, our cat, Milhous, got really excited by a PBS show about cats. He rubbed the TV screen and pawed it as if he thought he could reach those other cats.

    1. Princess could also make that comment about someone in the White House.

  5. Okay that's pretty funny. I can't say I ever had a dog that watch the TV quite like that. Well ...you might want to tell princess then she might be interested in a Canadian show that is on a network called ovation called Hudson and Rex And Rex is played by a German Shepherd that looks just like princess except for he's male, and his partner is very hot cop. That show might hold her attention.

    1. Princess might like a show with a German Shepherd. Her favorite show so far is Succession on HBO. She said Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) looked like a Basset Hound she knew and liked.

  6. Princess would be a worthy film critic successor to Roger Ebert. She knows exactly when to give a "paws up" or a "paws down".

    1. Maybe Princess should start writing movie reviews. I miss Roger Ebert.

    1. I think maybe you intended to say Princess has strong principles, but Principle might have been a good name for her. I wouldn't have named her Princess, but since she recognized the name and reacted to it, we kept it.

    2. And principal has strong princesses, too.

  8. OMG, well, she clearly understands OUR Language, now doesn't she? It was a very Rude and Ignorant thing for Madame Morrible to pronounce to her Audience, especially of the Fur Baby Species, so I don't blame Princess at all. If Animals could write a review... I suspect this one would get Rotten Tomatoes! *LOL*

    1. Debra of She Who Seeks fame suggested Princess could give paws up or down. I think she'd make a good movie reviewer.

  9. What a wise Princess. How could anyone say such a thing about animals?

    1. The evil characters in the Wicked book and movies are the ones who think animals are bad and shouldn't be allowed to speak. Princess only talks to other people in woofs, but I hear her words.

  10. Princess is right. Humans can't be trusted. Animals have the best of instincts and owners/servants, Janie.
    Happy New Year.

    1. I want to watch it again before I say much about it. I loved the first movie. I was distracted while watching For Good because of the fireworks going off constantly and I had a headache.

  12. Shh....don't tell anyone but I can't understand why that film is popular. I'm with Princess. It was awful with fireworks at our house too. Why? It is as if they have just been invented or something.

    1. Did you like the first Wicked movie? I loved it. I want to give the second one another chance. The fireworks are a Southern thing, according to our vet.

  13. Ah, so Princess is fluent in English! Don't blame her for being offended. ☺ I've known a few dogs who enjoyed watching TV. So cute!

    1. Yes, Princess pretty much sticks to English these days since I speak so little German. My first supervisor at my job spoke German so she would ask me to convey her love for him in German. Remember how it annoyed Penelope that Princess barked in German? Then Penelope and Princess became the best of friends and didn't even need to talk.

    1. Thanks. I brightened them with the editing feature. Otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to see Princess in front of the TV at all.
