NUTCRACKERS GALORE

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

Before Penelope finally gets her turn to show off her Kissmas presents, you might enjoy seeing the way a friend of mine decorates for the holidays. She has a very large collection of nutcrackers, and I took some photos of them this year.

She has so many nutcrackers that I couldn't get all of them in one shot! Next year I need to get down on the floor to get some close-ups. The problem is that I when I'm down, I can't get back up.

Thank you, my dear friend, for sharing your nutcrackers with us.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  2. That is a HEAP of nutcrackers. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the collection.
Perhaps your friend can get down on the floor to take the close-ups? Like you, once I am down, getting up can be a nightmare.

    1. I don't think she can get down on the floor, either, and I'm pretty sure that Carol can't. We are the walking wounded.

    1. I should have asked everyone to tell me if they collect something.

  4. Nutcrackers are great! When My Rare One and I first got together, we bought some nutcrackers as Christmas gifts for each other. Now we've got maybe 12-15 and every Christmas they grace the basement stairs leading down to the Christmas tree, one per step. Two of them have uniforms entirely made of sequins. Those are our gay nutcrackers and they are my faves.

  5. When my middle son was very young he wanted a nutcracker and a collection was born. Each year he got a new one, and it continued. Though not as many as your friend has, they also use them as the focus of their Christmas decor.

    1. It's way too soon to think about Easter. I definitely don't want to think about Valentine's Day.

  8. Holy moly. That takes some effort to get those all out and keep them dusted!

  9. I'm not sure "very large collection" is accurate enough! lol That is a massive number of nutcrackers - very impressive display.

As for getting up off the floor after taking photos, you really need to teach Franklin or Penlapee to take them; it would save you so much trouble and they've already proven themselves capable bloggers :D

    1. I didn't even think of that. I bet one or both of the doggies could become good photographers.

    1. I tried to count them. It was difficult because they aren't in straight rows. I don't remember how many I got. That's because my brain can't get up off the floor, either.

    1. No worries, Joanne. I don't get down on the floor unless I'm so sick that it doesn't matter that I can't get up.

    1. My mom collected nutcrackers, but didn't have nearly as many. When she died, I think the nutcrackers were split up between me and my sisters. I believe I gave my share to another sister. I'm not much of a collector.

  14. A lot of work, don't you think? But it's worth it to see such a lovely display.

  15. And I do not own one nutcracker. They are not really that popular in the UK, but I bet that will change!

    All that dusting....

    1. I think they're popular in Germany. I know my mom got some of her nutcrackers there.
