Gentle Readers (especially U.S. citizens) . . . and Maxwell,
Have you voted yet? If not, today is the big day. This election is crucial. I urge you to vote for candidates who want to look out for our best interests.
I don't want a Democratic majority in Congress because I hope to see Donald Trump impeached. If that happened and he were convicted, then we'd have President Mike Pence. I don't see that as an improvement.
I do want a Democratic majority in Congress because I hope they can impose some sanity in Washington. Democrats can help to balance out the fake power in The White House. I see that as an improvement.
I voted Sunday evening. The line at the polling place was longer than I'd ever seen it before.
At least I got a chuckle out of the people around me. I said, I'm glad so many people are here––as long as they vote the same way I do.
Infinities of love,
Janie Junebug
From this side of the world I am watching anxiously. The current incumbent in the White House encourages too many of our own politicians to believe that democracy is something that they can wipe their feet on.
ReplyDeleteHatred is contagious.
DeleteSadly yes. The plague of our times.
DeleteI vote by mail, and so my duty's done ten days ago until the next time.
ReplyDeleteGreat!
DeleteYup--voted by mail weeks ago! :)
ReplyDeleteWell done. I should start asking to vote by mail. That way I can vote at home and take my time instead of feeling the pressure of the little voting booth.
DeleteI wish we had early voting in Alabama but sadly we don't. Yes, Mike Pence for prez would surely be a nightmare. We need balance, something to reign in this madness. The problem is that people, (neighbors, family, friends, coworkers), have been revealed for who they are and what they believe and that will take longer to change, or may never change and that's what really bothers me more than anything.
ReplyDeleteI've been shocked to learn that some people I love are Trump supporters. I'm sorry you don't have early voting. I thought it was available in all 50 states. 5.1 million people in Florida took advantage of early voting. It's a record number.
DeleteI'm heading out to vote as soon as the polls open this morning. May the results of this election bring some sanity to Washington.
ReplyDeleteI hope your wait wasn't too bad.
DeleteEagerly waiting to see what happens from up in Canada! I hope some sanity is restored.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all the sympathy we've gotten from Canadians.
DeleteI voted by mail a month ago!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
DeleteGood luck, America - I have everything crossed hoping for a kind and sane outcome. Can you feel the Canadian love? It's here for you. I just wish I could vote, too.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteOh, how I wish you could vote in the U.S. That would definitely give us more Democrats in Congress.
DeleteWe foreign observers are keenly interested in the outcome as well. I'm glad there's a huge voter turnout!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad, too--as long as they vote the way I did!
DeleteI have. :: group hug ::
ReplyDeleteGroup hugs among all of us who don't want racists and anti-Semites in office.
DeleteI voted by mail a couple of weeks ago!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
DeleteI voted a week ago by mail.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know that so many people have taken advantage of early voting.
DeleteI can't recall the last time a national election was NOT described as the most important election ever. This time, however, I agree. So far, anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that.
DeleteVoting is compulsory here in Aus some think it shouldn't be, I a not one of them
ReplyDeleteI wish we had compulsory voting. If people can't fill out a paper ballot or get to the polling place, then we should provide them with transportation.
DeleteI voted! The machine broke down while we waited to submit our ballots so it took and hour or so longer than it might have but I did my part to reign in the madness. I'm glad there's a check on presidential power but I fear for our nation. There is far too much of an us vs them mentality when it should be we're all living here on this planet together so let's make the best of it, shall we?
ReplyDeleteI haven't missed any election since I became a citizen. In Colorado we have mail in ballots. Ours was long with many issues. It took me three hours to complete it. My husband would admire you for standing in line. He thinks we all should go to the polls to vote. I'm terribly worried that Trump will be elected for a second term. But as I watched our president's shameful behavior in France, his absence from the observance of Veterans Day in D.C. today, and his response to the horrific fires in California, I'm beginning to wonder if he's coming unglued.
