Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
A few days ago I got home from work and found a box waiting for me on my front steps. Inside the box was this heart full of goodies:
Yummy! But who sent this gift of deliciousness? A flyer in the box said that the name of the sender was on the front of the box. The label on the box said MISS YOU SOOOOO MUCH.
I don't have a relative or a child who misses me, so someone in the blogosphere needs to fess up and receive my thanks. I know that quite a few of you have my address.
I have three more weeks of training at work. Then I'll start my "real" schedule. I hope I'll have more time to return to my contrary grammarian ways.
My new work-related benefits are great, and the training has all been paid time (including the shift differential I'll get with my schedule). Every time I think, This is too hard . . . I should stay at home with the doggies, I get a paycheck to remind that the job is great. Plus, I love the people at work.
I did speak to a woman on the phone, however, who must have just finished sucking on the sourest lemon in the world. When I asked if she was near a representative with whom I could speak, she said, Yes, there's a representative here WITH WHOM you can speak, I swear acid must have dripped from her mouth when she said "with whom" because she sounded so nasty. Excuse me all to hell for using correct grammar.
Remember when I was worried about learning Excel? We never use it at work, and it wasn't in the job description. I'm glad I learned it, though, because all of the information I entered should make it easier to do my taxes. I need to get started on those.
I miss you all. I visit at least a few blogs every Sunday afternoon.
Infinities of love,
It wasn't me but I wish it was. Enjoy! So glad the job training is going so well. :) :)ReplyDelete
No one has confessed, so maybe it's not a blogger.Delete
It wasn't me, but it should have been... Neat to have a secret admirer, though a bit creepy too. I don't suppose it was the sour woman on the phone.ReplyDelete
Drats! I wish I had sent it because I have missed seeing your posts!ReplyDelete
Glad things are working out with the new employment!
Well I don't have your address but whoever sent it obviously really cares about you. :)ReplyDelete
That is so sweet! I'm so happy to hear the job training is going well and that you love the people you work with. That can make all the difference in the world!ReplyDelete
That's one of those gifts you throw away. The sentiment may be good, but then again, it's too easy of a way to seek revenge.ReplyDelete
You think so? Would someone send me a heart with spiked goodies in it to make me sick?Delete
Probably not, but I'm one of those that usually doesn't trust people.Delete
I was working on a sidewalk project, had to go pick up some materials, and returned to find the crew eating cupcakes.
I asked where they came from. They informed me the woman that lived in the house, where we just dug out a substantial part of her yard to place sidewalk on the right-of-way, had them delivered.
I refused to eat one, although nobody had any problems from eating what they described as delicious.
I guess after being confronted with a shotgun on another project, cussed by passing motorists on others, and working on the interstate at night, I've developed a wary opinion of human goodness. It's that, or I'm paranoid.
Still, congratulations on the goodies. They're much better than finding the neighbor's cat left a hair ball.
I missed you, but if snacks are in the offering, they'd be going to me. I love me some snacks. Glad work is going well (despite the occasional lemon-sucking weirdo).ReplyDelete
I miss you but it wasn't me! What a great gift. Maybe I should stop blogging for a little while... :)ReplyDelete
What a sweet surprise, Janie! Hope you figure out who sent you that sweet blessing in a box.ReplyDelete
Don't you love those people that are service representatives that would be better off doing a menial job with no contact with the public?!
Have a great week- xo Diana
It wasn't me, either, and I miss you, too. Remissly. That was good. Hurry back.ReplyDelete
That is such a nice surprise! Since I don't have your address, that rules me out. But I do miss you, Janie. Who else is going to scold us when our grammar is a mess?ReplyDelete
I'm so far out of the loop, I didn't even realize you'd gotten a job. Congrats! I'm happy for you. :)ReplyDelete
Nope, I didn't send you that box of goodies. Maybe it's a little sweeter NOT knowing who sent it. Just know that you are loved, lady.
It was not me who sent this but it must have been a nice surprise. The person who sent it is also very sweet and is thinking about you,...how nice is that! Congrats on the new job and that lady you spoke to needs an attitude readjustmentReplyDelete
Glad to hear your training is going well! Yes, EVERYONE misses you. Spelling and grammar on the internet have just GONE TO HELL in your absence. Save us, Janie, save us!ReplyDelete
Oh, Debra, you've made me so happy. Knowing that spelling and grammar have gone to hell without me is a thrill.Delete
awwww what a very sweet surprise.ReplyDelete
So happy the job is working out, that is really some good new for us all.
Thank goodness for paycheques; they really are a great incentive :)ReplyDelete
I don't have your address, so can't take the credit for the lovely box of goodies! But I DID miss you. I'm glad the job is working out well so far. You'll get in the groove after awhile. It's hard leaving the furry ones alone, though. Are you away the whole day or do you get to go home at lunch? That may sound like a stupid question, but some people live close enough to their work to do that.
I'm much too far away to go home for lunch (I wish I could!). My commute is an hour or so each way.Delete
Sorry not me either but looks oh so niceReplyDelete
A lot of people don't know how to use the word "whom" anyway. I knew a guy whose email address was "whomisit@[whatever].com" because he thought "whom" was just the "proper" form of "who." Whatever that means...ReplyDelete
Oh, and if nobody takes credit for sending the chocolates and other goodies... umm... They're from me.
Well, Trump takes credit all the time for shit he didn't do, and I figured that if he can get away with it, why can't I?
No one else has taken credit, so go ahead.Delete
Nothing worse than starting a new job and dealing with the dreaded learning curve. Probably why I rarely switched jobs - I never wanted to re-learn where to find paper or how to untangle the office politics.ReplyDelete
Hang in there - this will all be second nature in no time.
The mystery continues. It wasn't me, though I wish I could take credit. You have a secret, generous admirer. <-Why does that look like it should have another "er"? See how much we need you.ReplyDelete
Loads of love.
I'll probably do our taxes this weekend.ReplyDelete
Excel is a good thing to know how to use, although I've found that very few people use it the way it was intended. Most people use it as a sort of poor man's database, like an address list (name, address, city, state etc.), where it can then be used to generate mailing labels. Very handy tool to know about, and the free versions (Google Sheets, OpenOffice spreadsheets) work just as well and almost the same way.
I didn't send you the gift box, but it is good to see you back.
AWWWW what a nice present!ReplyDelete
Glad to hear training is going pretty well - starting a new gig can be tough. I look forward to you having more time to post!
I've been gone for so long I didn't even know you got a job! Congrats! And well, at least it's chocolate. You know those random presents with glitter in them? Those are just pure evil. Enjoy your goodies and I hope you're doing well at your new job. Give hugs to the dogs for me, please!ReplyDelete
Hi Janie - so glad things are going well - long may it continue ... good luck. Glad the Excel training will help with the dreaded taxes ... which it will ... and you can use it for other things.ReplyDelete
Brilliant about the present - not from me I'm sorry to say! Hope you find out who it is ... Thanks for your visit, take care and all the best - Hilary
What a wonderful surprise, and a great update, too! Glad to hear you are enjoying the new job. Teach those Neanderthals proper grammar.ReplyDelete
Well, I'm happy for you, Janie. New work-related benefits that are actually great and someone who misses you so much. Put great health and looks in the mix and people would think you're on top of the world. Good for you.ReplyDelete
Glad you are enjoying the new job! Hey, do you have any of those goodies left...?ReplyDelete
Glad you’re enjoying the new job.ReplyDelete
Of course we miss you! Glad to hear that you're diggin' your new gig...
That paycheck always does kinda smack you right back to reality, doesn't it?
Hope to see you blogging again soon. I may be taking a wee break --- having shoulder surgery April 2 and I'm not into one-finger pecking so it may be a week or so before I come up for air after being a pain-wimp...
Lots of love to you, Franklin and Penelope...
