Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
Princess and I had a great weekend. We walked and talked, and she cleaned my plate after Thanksgiving dinner and when I ate leftovers. We still have lots of good food, and I don't have to run the dishwasher when Princess licks a plate clean. It can go right back in the cabinet to be used for the next meal. (I'm kidding!)
But now it's time to get busy with the Christmas decorating.
The tree is up. It has lights and a few ornaments.
To complete the picture, every time I walk past the tree I have to hang an ornament on it. The final item will be the star on the top. If I put it on now, it will probably fall from its precarious perch every time I put something else on the tree.

Having work done on the house makes Christmas decorating this year near impossible ... we'll probably go very very simple

DeleteOne ornament at a time is a good tradition.
ReplyDeleteWe often say that our plates could go straight back into the cupboard, since the dogs do such a thorough job of cleaning.
If you have unwanted guests, a great way to get rid of them is to let the dogs clean the plates and then make a big show of putting them back in the cabinet.

DeleteI saw that ornament and immediately starting singing...and probably won’t stop for the rest of the night! Do you remember the Gary and the Hornets commercial? I still have that bapaba in my head! I love your way of decorating. I think I’ll unpack some things tomorrow. No tree. Damned cats.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember Gary and the Hornets. I looked them up and found the commercial. I must have seen it, but I guess it didn't make an impression on me. The first Christmas we had out cat, Milhous, he climbed the tree, stole the angel from the top, and bit its face off. The next year, he knocked the tree over. We put it back up and he never did it again.

DeleteYour tree is stunning! Are those green lights on it? Where they just look green from white lights reflecting? Either way being a visual stylist and display person the lights look perfect on that tree! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThank you! A compliment from you means a lot to me. The lights are white, but I also think they look good. Last year I used flashing lights in different colors. I prefer these smaller ones.
