Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
Today I send you away. Go! Shoo!
Please visit Shady Dell Music & Memories.
Now sing us on our way, Helen.
Infinities of love,
Janie Junebug
I remember how excited I was when Helen Reddy won a Grammy for I Am Woman. Helen thanked God because SHE makes all things possible.
It's always made sense to me that God is male and female at the same time. God created the universe, as a woman creates a child. I'm not trying to create controversy; I don't want to argue. It's simply what I believe.
You'll get no argument from me! I had a 45 of "I Am Woman" when I was a teen and played it incessantly.
ReplyDeleteI still sing it all the time--at the top of my voice.
DeleteOkay, I will go to Shady Dell Knight's Music & Memories...but I've already been there once this morning. It was my first stop. If I don't see anything new, where do I go then?
ReplyDeleteJust checked...yep, Shady has a great post but it hasn't changed yet. I'll keep watching it...
You can comment again or reply to other people's comments, such as writing, Janie, your comments are the most brilliant comments in the whole entire world.
DeleteThank you, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteAh, Janie, we love you and life is too short for disagreements.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing but love in my heart for the people who agree with me and the people who disagree with me. Thank you for loving me.
DeleteSuch a feminist anthem. I still like it.
ReplyDeleteI think that song helped the feminist movement by drawing attention to it and because of its positive, inspirational lyrics.
DeleteI have visited him already and read about his fond memories of those dancers. This song was such a big hit but I remember it being parodied by SCTV so I end up giggling a little. I know bad of me
ReplyDeleteNot bad of you--it's good to enjoy a laugh.
DeleteI agree with your belief--OH WAIT--I mean, I uh, I stopped reading because you shoo'd us away. If I could throw down a smoke pellet and disappear right now,I would.
ReplyDeleteYou can agree with me. I'll allow it.
DeleteShe sang for feminism, I guess. I always think of her fondly. ;)
ReplyDeleteI want to Google her. I haven't seen her in years.
DeleteGreat post...loved the memories.
ReplyDeleteHey Janie, gentle readers and Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar!
ReplyDeleteOh how I remember that song and I also remember Helen getting that Grammy. My song, "I am Dude, hear me Roar!", was a massive hit in Russia, evidently.
I'm so outta' here...
Gary :)
Congratulations on your great success in Russia. I am considered a goddess in Slovenia.
DeleteCongratulations on your being a goddess in Slovenia. The Slovenians adore the name, Janie Junebug.
