A TRIBUTE TO THE CONCLUSION OF MAD MEN

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

The final episode of Mad Men will air this Sunday, May 17, at ten p.m. EDT. While the last six episodes have been a bit strange, overall I've enjoyed the show. Willy Dunne Wooters likes it, too.

Here's a favorite Mad Men moment:

Funniest exchange ever between Roger Sterling and his second wife Jane.

I perform for Willy Dunne Wooters every Saturday night.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. Sorry, Janie. I don't want to read, watch, listen or comment because Mrs. S and I haven't yet seen the remaining episodes of the final season. We're following the series on NetFlix.

    Happy Thursday to you!

    1. I promise I will not have spoilers. I swear it on my Zou Bisou Bisou.

  2. I love Mad Men and I can't explain why. If someone asked me what it was about, I'd have a hard time saying anything other than "a gathering of messed-up people in the 60's making strange self-sabotaging decisions." But I'm a season behind, so no spoilers on Monday, I hope?

    1. Absolutely no spoilers. I think the show is appealing because the main character, Don Draper, is so mysterious. But even more important to me is the change experienced by the women, and I don't mean menopause.

  3. Quite a performance....when do we get to see the video of you performing for WDW? In French or English? Looks like the rest of the guests in the house were a little surprised.

    1. I always perform in French, though I have no idea what Zou Bisou Bisou means. No videos forthcoming. Sorry.

  4. We're eagerly awaiting the Big Finale too. Taking bets on whether Don Draper really does end up jumping out the skyscraper window.

    1. I don't want anyone to jump out of a window. I don't think Don will do that because it would be too obvious.

  5. You will perform... Well, I'm sure that Willy Dunne Wooters will be very appreciative.

    1. It's not very difficult to please Willy. I cook a burger on the grill, sing a bit in French, and tuck him into bed.

    1. It's definitely a show that should be seen from the beginning. Look for repetition in the plots. The points can be very small, but you might see a character doing something that's related to the past or doing something another character did in a similar way. Matthew Weiner is very creative. I enjoyed the clothes more as they got further into the sixties. I remember some of those clothes from my childhood--not that I dressed the way Megan Draper does in the video.

    1. It's on streaming. You might need to watch several episodes before you decide if it's for you and Mrs. C.

  9. With all the hype over this show combined with the fact that I love Jon Hamm, you'd think I would have been all over it. But the truth is - I never got into it. I couldn't actually get through the first episode.

    1. Different strokes for different folks. I'm not all that crazy about Jon Hamm. I like the Don Draper story line, though.
