MY FINAL MAD MEN POST . . . FOR NOW

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

Let's have some fun with Mad Men.

And now I must take a little break from blogging so I can edit. I'll read as many blogs as I can.

Infinities of love,

  1. I think my favorite is the Joan quote with everybody dressed to the nines. But they are all good ones. I am really going to miss Mad Men. :)

    1. Yeah, that show has a lot of great lines.

  2. Happy editing? Admit it, you're editing our blogs in your head.

Thank you for your kind comment Janie, much appreciated.

    1. I never edit blogs in my head (I am such a liar). I look people right in the eye, and I never edit what comes out of their mouths (big, fat liar am I).

  3. It blew me away when I learned that the guy playing Pete Campbell has a full head of hair and he was forced to shave his head into male pattern baldness for the show. How messed up would that be for your general life? Acting is a weird racket.

    1. I've seen photos of him with a beard and a full head of hair. He looks a lot better with more hair. He's also married to the actress (Alexis Bledel?) who played my daughter, Rory Gilmore.

    1. Maybe you shouldn't because once you start, you'll be addicted.

  6. These pictures made me giggle. I do not watch Mad Men though because well... I find it boring!

    1. Oh, well. We have room for sinners here.

  7. I've enjoyed your little snippets of Mad Men, but haven't watched the show to get a better feel for the characters you have identified with snarky comments, etc. Have fun editing!

    1. Thank you. I love correcting people and getting paid for it. When I don't get paid and I correct people, they look at me as if I'm not very nice. HOW CAN ANYONE THINK I'M NOT NICE?

  8. You say you're off to edit, I say you and WDW are off to do the cha cha, ala Pete and Trudy. But it looks fun, so I can't blame you.

I just think it's funny how far Vincent Kartheiser (Pete) went to look fat, balding, and old for the latter seasons, seeing as how he's none of those things. The intentionally shaved hairline to make it look like he had a combover was especially great.

    1. Pete and Trudy don't cha cha. It's the Charleston. Were you raised in a barn?

      Delete
    2. No, but I was born in one. Is the Charleston anything like the mashed potato?

    3. You are so young. It must be nice. And you're a Christ-figure. Who woulda guessed?

  9. I love the "I'm Peggy Olsen and I want to smoke some Marijuana" one! And the Walter White/Don Draper collaboration! But they're all good. And damn I'm going to miss my MM Jon Hamm fix!

    1. We're going to watch the show again from the beginning. Willy Dunne Wooters has the DVDs. When I see an episode a second time, I catch things I missed the first time.

  10. So funny. I love the one about a secretary running them over with a lawnmower :)

  12. I have this weird thing where I don't watch popular shows until they're done. So now I can watch Mad Men - yay!

  13. I think you've summarized the show quite well!

  14. Great post! If they ever get the last season up on Netflix, I'll watch it. I think I missed the last two seasons...I didn't realize Betty had died. Did she die a while ago or was this just something recent? Someone mentioned it offhandedly on a Facebook post and when I said "What the heck happened?" they just said they didn't want to ruin it for me. Well, hello? They already mentioned she died!

    1. You can catch up on Netflix. I think they have everything except the last seven episodes. Betty is not dead. She is in the final episode. Someone misled you. People shouldn't make comments like that. We need to let people who haven't seen the show enjoy it.

  15. Okay, I'm not sure I understand. Let me when Mad Women get a billing!

    1. I never understand, and I'm not even sure what I don't understand. I sometimes call the show Mad Women because I think it was about the women just as much or more so than it was about the men.

  16. Break from blogging to edit? I can understand that because I need to stay on schedule with my book. My plan is to have it finished on July 1st, take 2-3 months to edit it, and have it ready by October 1st.
So what am I doing here? Oh yeah, commenting.
I've heard a LOT of good things about Mad Men, but alas, I haven't seen it. It may be a lot like Star Trek (stay with me).... I never saw Star Trek until it went into syndication. Then I loved it.
May be the same fate for Mad Men.

    1. Mad Men, with the exception of the final season, is on DVD and Netflix Streaming. You need to hire an editor. Her name should be Janie Junebug.

  18. I LOVED Mad Men, though I was disappointed with the last season. This was such a great "best of" post! Now I'll have to go back and read Part I. Good luck with your editing, Janie!

  19. Never watched Mad Men, at least while it was going on - it may end up in my Netflix queue. That's what happened with breaking Bad. Bragged about how I never watched it, then started it on Netflix and became a total "addict." When had finished them all, I nearly cried.

    1. Breaking Bad is #2 on my list of all-time best series. I like Mad Men a lot, but it's not on my best list.

    1. Joan is quite a character--knocked down so many times, but she always came out looking like a gorgeous red rose.
