GRATITUDE TUESDAY: LA-DI-DA

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

I am grateful today because I have some new art in my living room, and especially grateful because it was painted by our lovely friend Jenny Matlock who blogs at . . . off on my tangent. Jenny paints and sells cool signs in her etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/OffonMyTangent?ref=em.

Here's an example of her work:

She has lots of interesting stuff, each piece unique, but I wanted something that was special to me. So I asked Jenny if she did custom work. She replied in the affirmative, and before long I had one of my favorite movie lines in white letters on a red background.

Annie Hall (Diane Keaton), in the eponymous movie, says, "la-di-da, la-di-da, la la." May not mean much to you, but it kind of expresses my philosophy about life; and I've said it many times. You can ask my kids.

Here's a closeup of my sign, custom painted especially for me by Jenny Matlock, hanging in my living room:

And here's the entire corner where it hangs:

You can see Favorite Young Man's little girl, Stella, down at the corner of this photo. She's been visiting me because FYM was on vacation.

Jenny sent the sign, which was very reasonably priced, wrapped in adorable paper. I felt as if I were receiving a gift. And I was! She also sent a cute card with a very sweet note, and a mint tea bag. I feel positively spoiled.

Jenny Matlock, blogger and artist extraordinaire, I AM GRATEFUL FOR YOU!

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. That's a great sign! I've bought a few things off of Etsy and it has always been a really positive experience because it's these people with a passion to create these crafts or artworks and are so excited to get that art out into the world. Then, of course, there's the time-suck that is Regretsy, the dark side of Etsy. Glad your experience was a great one.

    1. I have no Regretsy because I don't browse. But Regretsy is a great word, one I would have been proud to create.

  4. I'm more of a Chris Farley "Well, la-dee-freakin' -da!" kind of girl, but this is cool too.

    1. That's funny because Favorite Young Man always complains that I have so much "STUFF" in my house, while other people say, Oh, you don't overdo it.

  9. Neat signs. Now you've got my mind going as to what words from a movie I'd want on a sign like that... (Just what I needed. Another excuse for getting lost in my own thoughts.)

  13. Well, I think this sign is great Janie! And that is what I found a little 'familiar' when we 'met'.....you and Annie Hall have a lot in common!

  16. That is so nice of her and kind of realize the way you relate the saying to life.
I have a small youtube video uploaded in my post now that I took. After you said you have not heard of them I thought why not upload if anyone has not heard of them before they can see Fun.

  17. Is it Annie Hall? That's what came to mind but I don't specifically remember her saying that. (I haven't seen that movie for decades...now I'll have to check Netflix.) I love Diane's clothes ever since! She has her own particular style and always has had. Lovely woman. Individualist.
Love your sign! And it's red!! ;)

    1. Yes, Annie Hall. I needed more red in my life. Diane is still very cool and beautiful.
