THE LOST AND FOUND BATTLE OF THE BANDS QUESTION OF THE MONTH

Update: I apologize for confusing you by including the Battle of the Bands in my title. I don't have a BOTB because I don't have two artists performing the same song. Instead, I chose two songs about love lost and found to go with today's larger theme. I'm not counting BOTB votes.

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

I'm sorry I've been away so long. I'm trying to recover from an illness, but I want to participate in three bloghops scheduled for Feb. 1. 2016. Our big topic is love lost and found.

I'll keep this post simple for you and for me by simply offering two video selections.

We begin with Joni Mitchell:

We finish with Joan Baez:

Because these three bloghops have so many participants, I don't expect you to vote in my BOTB. I hope you have time to enjoy the music. I'll visit as many of you as I can.

My major goal is to recover and return to regular blogging.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  2. Glad you made it out of the sickbed to post for the events. Now get back to wellness.

These are both good performances by artists that I respect in many ways for their talents even though I wouldn't count them among my favorites--but I own several recordings by both.

I have to vote for Baez singing a song that I think is exquisitely lovely, "Diamonds and Rust". I cannot vote against that song.

  12. Janie, I hope you feel better real soon. I know what a bummer that is to be ill. I remember Joni Mitchell's song quite well, but I don't recall that one by Joan Baez, though. If I'm to vote on one of these then I'd have to with Help Me. I hope you can get back to your regular blogging routine soon!

    1. Diamonds and Rust is one of Baez's most famous songs. It's about her love for Bob Dylan, when they were young. He called to ask her to tour with him again, which she did. Diamonds and Rust is the result of that phone call.

  15. Health is number one! I love the post title - how creative! Your battle is perhaps the toughest I've visited. Hard, hard choice.

MY vote is for Joan Baez, today.

  16. I love Joni Mitchell's song Help Me! Such a great song that is so relatable to women like me who tend to gravitate toward bad boys... :)
I hope you're feeling better and better each day! Get lots of rest.

  18. OK, I'm confused here, well, more confused than normal anyway. Not sure how this all applies to BOTB, although both songs fit well with Lost and Found Love.

I guess because in BOTB we vote for which song or interpretation we like better, that's what I'll do. I'm not fond of either of these women, but I do like the song Diamonds and Rust better, so give Joan my vote, begrudgingly, Yeah, sometimes I'm like that.

    I hope you feel better.

    1. I'm sorry I confused you. I didn't have a true BOTB. I mentioned in the post that I didn't expect votes. It wasn't a true BOTB-- merely an attempt to stick with the major theme.

  19. Hi human, Janie,

Indeed, my human friend, blog hops and blog fests, or whatever they're called this week, are fine, however, please look after yourself and may you soon feel better.

I'm more familiar with the first song, but the second one was sad and soulful.

  24. Sorry you're not feeling well and hope you feel better soon. If we're voting, I have to vote for Joni Mitchell because when I clicked on Joan Baez a horrifying political ad played and now I have to figure out what about my internet habits lead YouTube to think I'd want to see/hear anything about that political candidate.

  26. I hope you keep resting and resting which can be infuriating. Now is the time to catch up on all the reading and film watching. Sending you get well thoughts. I know the Joni Mitchell song well but not the Joan Baez one and I really liked the style of it and how well she sang it so Joan Baez gets my vote
