MY YEARBOOK PICTURES

Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

The sad news is that Sam is not home. It's been pouring all day, and the temperature is dropping. I continue to pray for him. I ask for your prayers and positive thoughts, too.

The good news is that today I found my high school yearbook. I think you'll enjoy these photos of a young Janie Junebug and her friends:

Here's my good friend Patty Simcox. She grew up to be Hillary Clinton:

This girl was bad news. She felt like a broken typewriter. I don't know why.
She was some kind of first lady, too (the first lady in the class to be PG):

Here's where we went to school:

Here I am with young Willy Dunne Wooters at the prom:

Don't you dare say we look like those silly people, Olivia and John.
Whatever happened to them anyway?

I already had my famous golden tresses:

You take that down right now.
I only tried smoking once.
Why did that student photographer have to be there?

Oh, well. Don't worry.
Let's sing and have fun:

Sometimes Willy Dunne Wooters and I sing together on Saturday nights.
Can you believe the neighbors throw rocks at the house?
Franklin and Penelope howl!

Infinities of love and prayers for Sam,

Janie Junebug

  1. I am so upset to hear about Sam. My heart is breaking for him and his family.
Just came back from the Vet , thehamish is very ill again. His episodes (like mine) have been coming faster and it is not looking really good.
We shall see what the new test say. More tests to come once he settles down.

    Love your yearbook.
    cheers, parsnip

  2. Now that's a high school! I have to say, I never understood why is was a good thing for her to go from a wholesome gal to a slut. Oh I am praying for Sammy and hope he is found the poor thing

    1. Thank you for the prayers. A feminist way you can look at Sandy's character is that she changes because she wants to do so, and then she has Danny under her control. She's free of long, full skirts and sweater sets. She does as she pleases.

  3. And we are all hopelessly devoted to you!

  4. Yesterday I saw a guy in Target break out into a dance, no song, just dance, and it was quite weird. Maybe don't break into song and dance in Target. That's a Walmart activity or a state fair thing. (Sending more positive thoughts for Sam.)

    1. Thank you. No Sam discovery yet. I like to sing and dance pretty much anyplace. I won't go to Wal-Mart, though.

  5. You and your friends were remarkably good looking and should have gone to try your luck in Hollywood.

    1. You're probably right. What a pity we didn't take advantage of that opportunity.

    1. I talked to Carol today. No Sam. I bet you would have had fun at my school. You could have danced with us at the prom.

    2. Never went to prom. My boyfriend was anti-establishment. It was 1968, of course. ;)

    3. I didn't go. My boyfriend wouldn't take me. My ex-husband offered to take me. I turned him down.

    4. He wasn't my ex-husband then. I didn't think of him as potential husband material. I disliked him intensely. Is it clear that I didn't like him?

  8. I have the episode of Grease recorded, but haven't had a chance to watch the newbies trying to be our buddies in the real Grease.

    1. I recorded it, too, and haven't watched it yet! I don't know how it could possibly be as good as the original. The new one doesn't star me.

  9. Yeah if only school was as much fun as these people made it look

    1. School was fun for me. I didn't go most of the time. My friends and I went out to drink beer. Now, that's the way to get an education.

  10. Oh Janie - is it true? The pants were so tight, wardrobe stitched you into them? One of the hottest movies I've ever seen - some 16 times now!!

I also loved the Principal and zany secretary - were they for real?

Gosh, I thought WDW was taller, (smile).

  12. Didn't they offer it in your cafeteria?

    1. What in the cafeteria? Do you mean the bags of pot we passed under the table?

  13. I hope Sam comes home soon. On a brighter note, WDW is SO much straighter than that bald, creepy John What's-His-Face could ever hope to be.

    1. Thanks for your "Sam hopes." WDW is a great person. I know some people who have met creepy John. They say he is very friendly and polite. He takes the time to say hello to bystanders. Before I moved here, he made a movie in my neighborhood. The Scientology thing makes me uncomfortable, but I appreciate celebrities who are pleasant. Pat Conroy is probably the biggest "star" I've met. He was sooooo nice that after he signed my books, I went to his hotel room with him to "read poetry together." Just kidding, Mrs. Conroy.

  14. Hey! That's the same school I went to. I wonder if you remember me. They used to call me Eugene for some reason.

    1. Many of us owe you an apology, Eugene. I guess your forgot that's your real name, just as mine is Candy, or Handsy, or something other than Plain Jane.
