Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
It's time to announce the winner of the battle of the bands between Journey with Steve Perry and Journey with Arnel Pineda. The song is Don't Stop Believin'. You can see the original contest post HERE.
I'm quite glad this BOTB is over because I'm sick of Steve Perry calling, texting, and emailing me every five minutes: How many votes do I have? he whined. Do you think I'll win? Do I have a chance? I should win because I'm taller. That Arnel guy is only 5'4".
Steve, get over yourself. You won with thirty votes. Two votes, including mine, go to Arnel Pineda.
Cherdo of Cherdo on the Flipside tried to stuff the ballot box with one hundred votes for Steve Perry, but I'm on to her shenanigans. All those pseudonyms, Cherdo? Please. I do not for one minute believe that you are Iman, Moon Unit Zappa, or all of the Kardashians.
Although Steve Perry blew away Arnel Pineda, I'm not sorry I chose these two for the battle. I've never been a Journey fan, so I learned about the band. I also learned that Journey fans love their Journey, and they love them some Steve Perry.
Sing us out, please, Steve.
Infinities of love,
Janie Junebug
Here, Steve Perry leads San Francisco Giants' fans singing Don't Stop Believin'.
Janie, I'm not surprised Steve Perry won, but Arnel has a good voice. Have a tunetastic week!
ReplyDeleteGood battle, Janie Junebug! I view it as a journey. Steve Perry would have won handily even without Cherdo sneaking into the polling place wearing that ridiculous handlebar mustache.
ReplyDeleteHas the woman no dignity...no pride...no self esteem?
Cherdo who?
DeleteIs Steve Perry still rocking his 80's mullet? Bold choice. Had I known, that may have swayed my vote. Are there really Journey fans or are there people with Stockholm Syndrome after being assaulted with Journey songs on the radio in heavy rotation or in movies or at the supermarket or at sporting events for the last 20 years?
ReplyDeleteHard to tell if it's a mullet with the cap over it. The answer is Stockholm Syndrome.
DeleteCherdo rocks! Cherdo rocks! Cherdo rocks! Okay, sorry, I really wanted Perry to win. Hmm, looks like he did.
ReplyDeleteLovely battle, Janie!
Enough with the celebrating, Dixie.
DeleteNot familiar with any ot these people, thought I've heard of Journey.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know who any of them were until I watched a documentary about Journey and then did some research for my battle of the bands.
DeleteI agree with Cathy. I like Journey, but Arnel has a pretty good voice. Journey without Steve isn't the same though. I say that about Alice In Chains. The guy that replaced Layne Staley is good... but no one can replace Layne (Layne died, though).
ReplyDeleteLove,
Jessica
Death tends to make a person larger than life. We often deify dead people. "Oh, he was so nice. He was just the sweetest person ever," but in reality the guy was a jerk who saved his reputation by dying.
DeleteThat Steve. Some people never get enough attention. Next time he calls, feel free to give him my phone number and address...Wait, he mocks short people. Never mind. I'm a Journey fan, but I'll have to rethink that.
ReplyDeleteSteve is so needy. He needs to relax.
DeleteI like Cherdo more every day. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that sneak needs her butt kicked.
DeleteI had a gut feeling Steve Perry was going to win:) I have to say i am glad Arnel got a little loving because his voice is excellent
ReplyDeleteArnel thanks you.
DeleteSteve, Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve, oh yeah, Steve! It's all about Steve and only Steve. Loves me some STEVE. We're talking crush.
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like the blow-out I had on my own battle this week.
ReplyDeleteI guess you are learning some people know what they like. You probably also learned I love Diana Krall. ;) :p
Enjoy your blog dearly.
This outcome doesn't surprise me much. It's hard to beat the original when the original is so good. I think my next Battle will have similar results as yours was this time.
