Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
I have the winner for my first Battle of the Bands. The song is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. My competitors were Wayne and Garth of Wayne's World v. The Muppets.
To see the competitors, click here.
And the winners are (drum roll, please), by the hair on Animal's head,
Rather than re-play the competitors, I give you Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen at Live Aid, 1985.
Can you do the fandango?
Infinities of love,
Janie Junebug
Is it safe to say Live Aid was sponsored by Pepsi? Loved the live performance. Mercury adds so many incredible vocal flourishes. Not to short the rest of the band, they were great too, but they all get points off for their hairdos.
ReplyDeleteFreddie was a true performer.
DeleteYay, Muppets! Dewey the dung beetle and I have voted for the winner of every presidential election since Warren Harding. It looks like we are starting a similar streak here on your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know the outcome, Janie!
Feel free to visit my blog at www.shadydell.blogspot.com.
Warren Harding, huh? I think he might have been before my time. Calvin Coolidge's sons went to the same prep school as my daughter, but not at the same time. Way back then, the school was for boys only. Sadly, one of the sons got a blister on his foot while playing tennis on the White House court. In pre-penicillin days, that meant he didn't graduate from Mercerburg Academy.
DeleteAw, I hope this doesn't upset Wayne and Garth. Congrats, Muppets!
ReplyDeleteI think Wayne and Garth are wealthy enough by now that they won't be too upset.
DeleteYay, Janie. I loved your first battle!! No - I can't so the fandango! I'm glad you joined Battle of the Bands!
ReplyDeleteI can't fandango, either, so we'll sit in a corner and watch the fandangoing.
DeleteI can't do the fandango but I can do the cha cha like a sissy girl.
ReplyDeleteI'm familiar with that performance. Love watching that video from time to time. Mercury had an incredible voice.
Poor Wayne and Garth. I tried to help them out, but I guess just like Mike Myers and Dana Carvey they're doomed to live in the 90s, back when people still cared about them.
I didn't know that people don't care about Mike Myers and Dana Carvey. I'm out of the mainstream.
DeleteI'm surprised, I must say.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Muppets would win by a lot.
DeleteThe Muppets always have to win in my book.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the title of your book? I'll tell them about it.
DeleteGo Muppets! I can't do the fandango but I can do The Pigeon.
ReplyDeleteAnd The Pigeon is?
DeleteYippee for The Muppets! I try to do the fandango but sometimes my fan can't find the dango
ReplyDeleteI have that problem.
DeleteWinner, Winner, MUPPET Dinner!
ReplyDeleteGreat debut, JANIE. I voted "Muppet", so...
...where's my Muppet dinner?

I refuse to feed you Kermit the frog legs.
DeleteYea, Muppets !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
I think I did the fandango one else when I had a bad burrito.
ReplyDeleteTMI. Of course, I go overboard on the TMI myself.
DeleteThe prize went to a wonderful group of fuzzy folk. ;)
ReplyDeleteI saw some of the Muppets in a museum about thirty years ago. It didn't seem right that they weren't telling jokes and singing.
DeleteGo muppets! My daughter's (5th grade!) band did this song for their spring concert and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteGreat song.
DeleteThe Muppets, every time. I do know a clown named "Scaramouche", he likes do that Battle of the Bands!
ReplyDeleteBye, Janie.
Gary
Scaramouche? For real? Did he get it from the song?
DeleteI remember Live Aid like it was yesterday, Janie.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the Muppets! ☺ Glad you posted the original song because of course, that's the best one. And I love The Fandango
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of a shame that they only did part of Rhapsody and then went into Radio Gaga. I just want Rhapsody.
