SUMMERTIME

 Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

We celebrate the lush growth of summer

But the heat arrived early this year

too hot to move
Franklin and Penelope wear their new PRIDE bandanas

Summer is a rough season with its heat and storms. Sweet Cheeks and I spend much of our Saturday evenings talking about Ukraine and the horrible shootings in the U.S.

Who was that guy who said "an AK-47 is not a sporting weapon nor needed for defense of a home"?

Oh, yeah. It was Ronald Reagan.

The Lake Junebug Resort & Rumpus Room is not open yet for the summer. Perhaps it won't open at all this year.

I remain your Junebug On The Job, with black scribbly marks to keep work-related info from showing.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. We are in winter here - and still spend a lot of time talking about/thinking about Ukraine and the vile shootings in your country.
Look after your important self and your equally important fur buddies.

    1. Thank you, EC. Sweet Cheeks and I long for progress with gun laws, but we know it won't happen. It's depressing.

      Love,
      Janie

    1. I think Texas is even hotter than my part of Florida--the northeast. I'm an ally because I abhor discrimination of any kind. Franklin and Penelope were so excited when they saw the bandanas. They love to dress up.

      Love,
      Janie

But I'm still grateful to have a good job.

  4. Most of the news is too depressing. The rest is no better.

    1. It is terribly depressing, yet I don't feel I can ignore it. We remain in great danger because of trumpism.

  5. Good to hear from you, Janie! Stay cool. Avoid guns and lightning. That's all the advice I am qualified to give!

    1. And very good advice it is. We're heading into thunderstorm season. Miami was pounded by a nasty tropical storm last weekend.

  6. Nice to see you, Janie! Literally! ☺ Summer is my favourite season, and while we do get hot and humid days, they surely aren't as frequent compared to Florida. Your sweet dogs look adorable in their bandanas. Do Republicans like Ronald Reagan even still exist? I'll never understand why the current ones think people should have the right to own murder weapons like assault rifles! My heart bleeds for America whenever there's another massacre. 💔

    1. Some Republicans are bearable. I'm happy that Liz Cheney and a few others have taken a stand against trump. Reagan was far from perfect, but he was a lot better than most of today's GOP.

    1. A co-worker took that with her i-phone and added some special effects. I do not look that young in reality. Sweet Cheeks loves the photo, though, and said "It looks just like you!"

    1. So glad to hear of that coin. That's lovely. I like the extra light, too. When I get up in the morning, it's not long until the sun comes up.

  10. Our spring has been cooler than usual but I'm happy with that. The summer heat and humidity will be here soon enough. Your doggos look very chic in their rainbow bandannas :) It's nice to see a picture of you! I'm not brave enough to post one of me.

    1. I only posted that "photo" because my co-worker fancied it up with an app on her phone. Franklin and Penelope were so excited when I brought out their new bandanas.
