My motto as an editor: Authors are the authority on their work. I'm a full-service editor. For a reasonable fee, I'm your writing coach from the first suggested revision to the correction of the final typo.
And, I throw cool parties. For about three years I entertained once a month. At one of these occasions, someone mentioned something and I went to get a book to look it up because we all wondered what the answer could be. Soon, the dozen people here were going through my books and reading to each other. It was like a dream as I looked around at people who actually like books, got up and sought out books they knew, and then read aloud to us. Only three of us were English majors, but the others were voracious readers, all but one college graduates. Since I have seven book cases in three rooms, we just sort of wandered about.
Majoring in something can lead to a job in a different field. The Hurricane says that sometimes she wishes she'd gone to a more technical college, but she wouldn't trade her liberal arts education for anything.
I loved this cartoon!!
ReplyDeleteIf you hated it and you sent it to me, I would be concerned about our relationship.
DeleteHahaha! Thanks for the laugh Janie and Fran!
ReplyDeleteJulie

ReplyDeleteThat does sound like Heaven. I have so many bookcases. One of the reasons I bought my house is because it has built-in bookcases.
DeleteHi Janie - that is lots of fun .. love that one .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary, I would do darn near anything to earn your approval.
DeleteI love it! IT'S AWESOME!!!!!! (and thank you for my package, by the way...still cold enough here to enjoy!)
ReplyDeleteI love a big package.
DeleteGonzo would do well in that field. He'll be a senior next year, so that is high on our list of investigations.
ReplyDeleteYou already have a kingdom as the Queen of Grammar, so it fits in with your overall reign.

DeleteLOL! Misuse of "its" and "it's" drives me mental. It is SO simple to know which is correct in any setting, yet people never know the right one to use.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea.
DeleteUhhh, Go Jocks!
ReplyDeleteSome English majors are jocks.
DeleteI married an English major; I guess that's about as close as I've gotten to being cool.
ReplyDeleteNo, Stephen. I'm sorry, but for you, that's not enough.
DeleteJanie, that is really funny. That apostrophe is used wrong all the time!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is.
DeleteI'd love to see where that apostrophe lands.
ReplyDeleteI've seen teachers make all the typical mistakes with commas and apostrophes.
DeleteOk Too funny:) My problem is the to and too
ReplyDeleteI am to cool too care.
DeleteOutstanding.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm in the house.
