AFTER THE BALL IS OVER

 Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

After the break of morn, after the dancers' leaving, after the stars are gone, many a heart is aching . . . .

After the excitement of Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden as our nominee (although I love and appreciate Joe Biden and still felt he could do the job) and the thrill of the debate, I sensed her opponent would win.* The people who love him do not care that he is out of his mind, that he will lie when the truth will do. We can't say the media didn't report on the crazy crap he said. It was certainly on CNN.

But the MAGATs don't watch CNN. They laugh and cheer no matter what he says. Some of them repeat lies––such as hurricane survivors only receiving $750––without knowing the lie originated with him. They get their news from click bait and TikTok.

I can hardly bear to look at any news now. I see headlines such as TRUMP PREPARING FOR MASS DEPORTATIONS.

So good luck to you, ya idiots.

I just deleted the rest of what I wrote about the election because it was bitter and angry and served no purpose.

The past couple of weeks have been difficult and distressing.

The day before the election, something occurred at work that had me so disturbed I frightened Princess and Penelope with my anger. I hate upsetting my innocent friends. Rebekah kept quiet while I let out my fury and supported me emotionally until the issue was resolved by management. I still miss my first supervisor at this job, Bryan, so much. He was only in his 20s, yet he was the best supervisor I've ever had.

I do not mean to imply the problem was with the supervisor who replaced Bryan. She and I gradually developed a warm relationship. However, we stopped hearing from her around October 10. We were shocked when we learned she passed away October 21. She was 40 years old.

We don't know the cause of death, but I was aware––and I imagine other members of our team were, too––she wasn't well.

Rebekah and I went to her funeral in Orlando Sunday. The drive was about 2 1/2 hours each way. The funeral was supposed to start at 9 a.m., actually began about 10, and ended a little before 2. We did not go to the cemetery and the meal after the burial, but we stopped for lunch on the way home. We left about 6:15 a.m. in rain and darkness and returned home in heavier rain and darker darkness a little before 6 p.m. My back and head rebelled after the long day.

We think we will be assigned to the other supervisor in Jacksonville. Rebekah is on his team. He's a pleasant fellow. He's been on vacation and I'm not sure when he'll return, so more to come.

Hang in there, every buddy, as Franklin would have said, and yeah, good luck, ya idiot voters. Franklin would have sneered at you.

Keep kamala and carry onala.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

*Although I realized he would win, I thought the election would be close and we would have to wait a few days before he was declared the winner.

  1. I gave up on CNN when they refused to call out The Felon's lies and used "disinformation" instead.
    The man lied. LIED.
And yet they continued to feature him on their news shows because he was good ratings.
Sorry CNN, it's not me, it's you.

    1. I did not hear the word "disinformation" used, but I trust you when you say they used it. I don't watch a lot of news on TV. My use of CNN is mostly through their app on my phone, where I read articles and watch some videos. I no longer know if any news sources can be trusted. I thought about subscribing to The Washington Post, but then I learned Bezos didn't allow the editorial staff to endorse Harris. I don't have access to MSNBC currently and can't afford any of the services that would allow me to have it.

  2. Oh dear, big changes in the country and at work. Too bad about your supervisor. Forty is so young to go.

  3. The results of the election are disappointing, tragic in fact. Let us not forget, however, that Kamala is a politician, not a saviour. Politicians win and they also lose. This time she lost.

    1. I have never seen a politician as a savior. It's unfortunate that many of his supporters are deluded to the extent that they see him as the messiah.

  4. Quite a traumatic time, Janie! So sorry for losing your supervisor. I hope the next one will be good to you. As for the election, what we all feared has come true. May the next four years pass quickly.

    1. Rebekah's supervisor, J, returned today and told his team that he is pretty sure we will be joining them. I'm sure he'll treat us well. Whether the company will treat us well is another matter. Firings have become de rigueur.

    1. Thank you, my love. I'm hanging on. If I'm fired, at least I'm old enough to start collecting Social Security, but I'd rather not start until I've reached my full retirement age, which won't happen for about another year.

  6. I kept reading about Hispanic voters voting for Dump despite his hateful anti-immigrant views. They think he wasn't talking about THEM and that they "came in the RIGHT way"...well, I'm afraid they're about to get to the "find out" part of FAFO. How any immigrant, woman, or friends/family of LGBTQ people could have voted for him I'll never understand.

    1. I don't understand, Jennifer. How could so many women vote for him? Women fought so long and hard for the rights we enjoyed that our mothers didn't have and they are being taken away from us with our permission -- not mine, but the permission of many women.

    2. I will never understand either!

  7. I hope you get that new supervisor.
I have not been watching but enough to get the bare facts since the election. Avoiding the news. Still just sad and weary. Focusing on the move. :)

    1. I glance at headlines. I have seen names of people he's appointing to top jobs. They are incompetent and stupid. The knowledge is painful, but at some point, I have to know what's going on. At least he's taking some Republicans away from the Senate, the House, and Governorships. I don't know yet if that means they will be replaced by even worse, but in at least one case, the person might be replaced by a Democrat.

  8. I'm so sorry about your supervisor and our elections. I must admit, I find the 'total sweep'.....interesting.

    1. Some things will probably change when we reach the mid-term elections but we are probably stuck with he who must not be named for four years.

  9. When someone dies in their forties, we want to know the cause. I imagine you feel a hole in your heart for this and all the other losses. Heart to you and the canines, who are all heart <3

    1. Thank you, Mirka. It's been rough at work, but we're starting to move onto another team. It's kind of weird because we've been a team unto ourselves for 3 years and now we're the newcomers on someone else's established team.

  10. The people who elected him will be shocked when they are affected by what they voted for. And now we are the rearguard.

    1. Even if they're shocked, they'll find a way to blame it on the Democrats. Somehow it will be the fault of Biden/Harris.

  11. I get all my news online now, can’t tolerate watching most of the time, and now it’s even worse. So sad about your supervisor. I always agreed with Franklin.

    1. I glance at the CNN app on my phone to see which idiot he's appointed and then I'm done. It's depressing. I can't read articles or watch the news at all. You and Franklin were kindred spirits.

  12. I am sorry to read about your supervisor's death. And I am sorry to read daily about the death of civility in our nation. I think we are in for a bumpy ride. I love that photo of Franklin.

    1. Thanks, Michael. You're the best. My former boyfriend loved to take Franklin for a ride in his car every weekend. They'd take off together for 20 minutes or so. Franklin was happy with his place in the red Mustang. We're still adjusting at work.

    1. When his followers see what a mess it is, they'll still find a way to blame the Democrats. It's all nearly unbearable.

    2. Indeed, the Tories were in power for 14 years, not investing in health, and now they're blaming Labour.
