PEANUTS ON THE TREE

 Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

My email is full of messages telling me everything is 40% off at this store and I can get free shipping and 20% off at that store. I don't see anyone offering $1,200% off. That's 🟧 Math.

But I'd love it if stores paid me to shop with them. Give me that 700% off, baby.

No wonder 🟠runs businesses into the ground. He doesn't understand percentages, or he knows what they mean and he's counting on the stupidity of his followers to believe the crap he says. A lot of people bought the lie about 150-year-old people receiving Social Security checks. We haven't heard anything more about that in a while, have we?

The number of ornaments on the tree grows. I've expanded the add one ornament every time I walk past the tree to sometimes standing at the tree to add three or even four ornaments. The addition of multiple ornaments doesn't occur when I'm on the way to the bathroom, however.

Princess showed an interest in the Christmas tree Sunday, but not in a good way. She started to chew on a branch. I told her no. She obeyed. If one no isn't enough to discourage her, then I've also put some jingle bells on the lower branches of the tree. So if she messes around with the Christmas tree when I'm not in the room watching her, I hope the sound of the bells will alert me to the problem.

When I leave the house, she usually lies on the living room couch to wait for the sound of my car pulling into the driveway. I receive an enthusiastic greeting at the door.

Now, let's take a look at the Ornament Of The Day:

Thanks for joining me. December has arrived. I know some of you have to deal with snow and cold. We have gray skies, but no rain yet, with highs and lows in the 60s.

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

  1. I love snoppy! And let's hope you never come home to a downed tree. Fingers crossed. I have the tradition of adding a new ornament that catches my eye, usually bird related or vintage of some kind... to the tree every year.

    1. I don't think Princess will do anything to the tree when I'm out of the house. She never gets into trouble when I'm gone. I think she's too busy missing me. She's such a devoted dog.

  2. I love your ornaments video! Apparently 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the Peanuts TV Christmas Special. Since I remember watching it the first time it was on TV, that makes me feel old indeed.

    1. Debra, you are not alone. I also remember watching the special the first time it was on. And I've already watched it this year because it's streaming on Apple.

    1. Now that I've seen the video on my blog, I realize it's too dark. I need another light source beside the lights on the tree. Then we'll all see everything better.

  5. The discounts, or "discounts", remind me of my former life when dealers would advertise 70% discount off of invented prices. I worked in the rug business and while our gallery was above board dealing with antique collectibles (whose price was never standard but set by what collectors would pay) we chuckled at dealers of new rugs who made up these "sales." The odd thing is that it worked for them. It still does. 🎈🎈🎈

    1. X and I bought some nice, wool area rugs years ago. We paid the discounted price as posted, then realized as we were leaving that other customers were negotiating lower prices. We felt stupid.

  6. Oh my! That is such a cute ornament. Even cuter than the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile--lol! I've always had a soft spot for Snoopy. Loved hearing your voice! I hope Princess leaves the tree alone. :)

    1. Princess has been a good girl. She was playing with a ball yesterday and it rolled behind the tree. She waited for me to retrieve it. Maybe I was a Labrador Retriever in a different life.

  7. Snoopy is one of my writing heroes! Good choice of ornament.
