Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,
The philodendron in my backyard used to look like this:
Phil has been an important part of doggy playtime. It's fun to play chase around the big bush and to run underneath it. Hiding under it is exciting. A doggy can pretend to be in the jungle. It's a shady, cool spot during the summer. Best of all, you can dig a hole under there and Mom won't see you doing it and yell at you to stop.
But after our run of freezing temperatures, Phil looks like this:

Sad philodendron, appropriately mourning... Like all of nature, it will rise again while we pass.
ReplyDeleteI've been cutting away what the freeze killed in the hope of a resurrection.
DeleteMy brother, who lives not far from you, lost his philodendrons' leaves too. But the plants will come out again, I'm sure. They're pretty durable. RIP Jesse!
ReplyDeleteI think Phil will make a comeback. I've scalped him many times and he always flourishes again.
DeleteSounds like you and Princess are thinking about getting another companion....
ReplyDeleteRIP Reverend Jesse Jackson.
I was sad when I learned of Jesse Jackson's death. He was a constant in our lives -- a trailblazer who ran for president twice.
DeleteCan’t wait to see Phil’s resurrection.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to it. He looks so sad now.
DeleteBeautiful photos, Janie. RIP Jesse Jackson 😢 🙏
ReplyDeleteThe death of Jesse Jackson is a great loss. Soon everyone who was close to Dr. King will be gone.
DeletePoor Phil! 🥺 I wish you happy gardening, and what a great idea, to get another dog for Princess to train! Can't wait to hear more about that. 💖
ReplyDeleteA slight chance exists that another dog will join us soon--an adult guy in need of a home. I don't want to say too much in case it doesn't work out.
