  1. Good for you! Or to any woman who has had to deal with such horrible times. It is not our lot and nor should we think this way any more. It remind me when my Aunt married an alcoholic abuser when she was 16. My Grandmother( this was 1916), took the broom to her own daughter and told her she made her bed when my Aunt went back home after being beaten by her husband. I have a hard time understanding this.

    1. I think it used to be more common to treat women that way because men "owned" women. Some people still feel that way. No one owns me, except Penelope and Franklin.

  2. As previously mentioned. I do hope the majority of us have reached this conclusion.

  6. The part of a marriage ceremony that bugs the hell out of me (& was left out of ours) is "Who GIVES this woman to be married to this man?"!!

    1. I don't like that, either. It wasn't said at my ceremony. I also wouldn't let my dad walk in with me. I think he was a bit hurt, but I belong to me.

  7. Just when you think or hope that we as a species have gotten beyond these things, you realize they're far from gone. No one should denigrate another, especially one with whom we're supposed to be sharing the good and (other) bad things in life.

    1. I think denigration increases every day. People are so angry.

  8. No one deserves to be in an abusive relationship. It's tragic that some people feel they deserve the abuse.

    1. Abuse is everywhere, and it has its defenders, such as the men who say a woman can't be raped or can't get pregnant from rape.

  12. Nobody deserves that. Least of all you. You are strong and wonderful.
