Gentle Readers . . . and Maxwell,

Later this week, we Americans will celebrate our day of Thanksgiving, but I don't think we need a holiday to be able to proclaim how grateful we are.

So, today's What? Monday question is the following:

For what are you grateful?

If I told you all the reasons I'm grateful, I'd never finish this post. Therefore, I shall do my best to choose the most important reasons I'm grateful.

I am grateful for my children:

I'm not sure whose kid this one is -- never seen her before in my life,
but I'll be grateful for her anyway.

Little Chick and President Jimmy Carter

Favorite Young Man

I am grateful for dogs:

I met Elvis Aaron Schwarz last summer. I'm very grateful for him.

I have edited four books during the past year. I'm so grateful to the authors and publishers who trusted me to perform this task.

And I am so very, very grateful for each and every one of you. You make my day, my month, and my year when you read my blog and, especially, when you leave a comment.

Photo of random blog readers.
Don't know who they are.

I am even grateful for mentalpause. It means that life goes on.

Thursday is supposed to be a holiday, but really it's just another day -- another day during which we can express our gratitude. I don't know where I'll be, but I'm alive; and I'm grateful because I no longer look like this:

Now, it's your turn. Tell me, please, For what are you grateful?

Infinities of love,

Janie Junebug

P.S. I won't post again this week. You'll be busy stuffing your turkey and yourself, and then the wild ones among you will go shopping. I'll see you next week, perhaps on Cyber Monday. Now, that's my kind of shopping day.

Also, I admit I'm a little sad that I no longer look like this, but I don't miss the teenage angst.

  1. What a great post! I'm thankful for you, too! have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  2. I love all of these pictures. I'm so thankful you edited Homeless in Hawaii. I'm getting excited about that one. ;)
This year I find myself very thankful for my family and friends--that includes my blogging family :)

  3. I'm grateful for YOU--& all the other people in Bloggerland who have become such a large part of my life. I'm grateful for the fancy restaurant dinner I had last night & the family I shared it with. I'm grateful, too, for the pot roast I'm going to have tonight. At my age, I'm also VERY grateful that I'm still looking down at the grass instead of up at it! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU & YOURS!!

  4. I am thankful for the 2.5 miles I ran today (without stopping) and that my body is healthy enough to do it. I am thankful for the kids ages and that I no longer have to schlep around a ton of crap whenever we go anywhere. I am thankful that my husband took them home tonight for me, so I didn't have to schlep THEM to the mall with me to get a few things done. And I am thankful for hot dogs with the cheese in the middle. Because they enabled me to not have to make a real dinner for Youngest after doing all this today. :)

  5. Wonderful list of things to be thankful for! It is always good to stop and think every day of all our blessings (I'm terrible at doing this myself) so I'm glad there is one day set apart each year where we can take that time to be grateful and thankful. May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving however it is spent!

  6. Happy Thanksgiving, this Thursday and every day before and after.

  7. Great gratitude list!
I have old pics and remember how I used to think I looked fat back then--geez! I'd love to be that skinny now--LOL!
Enjoy your blog break!! See you later. :)

  8. Hi Janie - what a good list with some wonderful photos .. Being thankful for all things is something more of us should do more often .. small things, little things, major hurdles etc etc .. I'm just grateful I'm here now and healthy - it's the time to look forward.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving ... cheers Hilary

  9. Seems like once again you and I are on the same page. Sadly my post is long but it could have been much longer. Thank you for editing my book True Nonsense! I know without you it would not have been possible. You truly are a treasure and I'm so happy you are part of my life.

  10. Oh by the way I sent off your books last week. They should be there any time now. :)
    Love ya

  11. Nicely said Lady, and we're thankful for the time YOU put into the editing and other efforts... Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

  12. I'm thankful that my family doesn't like turkey, since I don't enjoy cooking one.

  13. You're a star, Janie. And I love you for being you - inside. Thankful for meeting you.

  14. What am I most thankful for? A bunch of shit. Too much to list here. I've been blessed with a good life...most of it.

  15. Good list. We love our dogs too, and our blog-buddies.

  16. I love this post so much! I was so happy to see all the picutes, mostly because I'm really nosey :) Your kids (and dtr in law) are all gorgeous, and you know I love the poochies. And you were quite the hottie, miss Junebug. I'm betting you still are and you keep Elvis Aaron Schwarz on his toes!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  17. I'm thankful that I have a place with friends to go celebrate Thanksgiving with...and I only have to cook one thing! :)

  18. Dear Janie, thank you for sharing your gratitude list. Like you, I'm grateful for many things. When I was in the convent I used to think that nuns were somewhat crazy when they said, "Sister Innocence, pray for good health." Now I find myself at age 76--their ages then--being so grateful for good health and for a body that walks and talks and feels and can still dance and sing and feel the warmth of sun, the freshness of rain, the coolness of breeze and the kiss of a snowflake. Peace.

  19. Hi Janie, Grateful that you took the time to stop by and leave a comment on my blog. Thanks for sharing your list with us, I think it is sometimes so easy to complain about our lot in life that it is wonderful to read such a list.

  20. LOTS of blessings to be grateful for, too many things to mention them all. It's beyond awesome that my husband and I are still breathing in and out, and still able to enjoy them all. Happy Thanksgiving, kiddo.

  21. Awww, you are gorgeous!!!

I'm hoping I can post and read more regularly next month. Time just seems to be in limited quantities, and seriously flying by. :/

I just wanted to stop by and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Many hugs and MUCH MUCH love~

  22. What a great list of things to be grateful for I completely get why you would have such a list......I hope you have a great Thanksgiving

  23. Why am I not surprised that Johnny Depp made your Most Thankful For list? Lol!

I'm grateful for great bloggy friends like you, and dildos. I'm super grateful for dildos.

  24. This post is so wonderful I don't know where to start. Your daughter is beautiful, I mean classy beautiful. Your son looks like he's a good son. Your blog readers are wonderful and beautiful too. Your Elvis is Johnny Depp and you are really cute to post that not sick of you yet. I am happy that you found him. I believe this is the most exciting time exploring! And you were really adorable, and a hot chick! (I hope that's not a bad word).

Happy Thanksgiving, and Janie, thank you for your kind words.

  25. a nice list, Janie. when we sit back and make a list, there sure are many things to be grateful. i'm thankful to have the things i have, family and friends.
    i should be more thankful.
happy thanksgiving and thanks for being here :)

  26. I'm thankful for having survived last year's ordeal, and I'm thankful for everyone who loves me in spite of my grumpiness.

  27. Janie Dragonware is from something like the '30s. I was doing research into cup shapes as I am basing my next piece on antique shaped cups.... Thanks for commenting. I am grateful when people comment on my blog.

  28. You have a LOT of readers and a lot of comments to be grateful for. As for me and Stud, every day we list to each other the things we love the most. So far, it's always the same: Our home, each other, our dog. Some days, our dog gets the number one spot. lol

  29. Rocking that bikini, that picture was from last week right?
